THE CROWN AFFAIR IS COMING TO THE BRONX THIS JULY ✨👑
NEFER Bookcafé, Becoming the CEO Network, and Generation Acceleration present The Crown Affair: A Black Girl and Her Braids — a joyful day of books, beauty, braids, culture, and celebration featuring Penguin Random House author Jaylene Clark Owens.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:30 AM–4 PM, we're gathering families, elders, children, readers, dreamers, and beauties from across the city for an unforgettable community celebration honoring the brilliance and cultural legacy of Black hair.
Come experience a live author talk, read-aloud, and book signing with
, whose beloved book A Black Girl and Her Braids has inspired children and families across the country to see the beauty in themselves.
Throughout the day, you'll enjoy performances, storytelling, music, art, interactive exhibits, and hands-on learning about natural hair care, braiding traditions, and the CROWN Act.
And for our future stylists? We're excited to present Braiding Camp by , a fun, beginner-friendly experience where participants will learn the basics of hair braiding and discover the creativity, skill, and entrepreneurship behind the craft. Space is limited, so get to getting on the tickets.
A place where curls, locs, braids, fades, waves, and textures of every kind are celebrated. A place where children see themselves reflected. Where the beauty of the Bronx and its people is on full display.
