Island Fire Glass began in 2003 when glass artist Matthew Fenske opened a studio gallery in Frederiksted, St. In 2016 Matthew and his wife Rachel moved to the gulf coast of Alabama. In December 2019, Matthew opened a new gallery on the corner of Salt Aire Rd and Dauphin Island Parkway, in the Fowl River area, south of Mobile, AL. We feature glass art that we make on site by Matthew Fenske and Elli

e Jones, along with work created by faculty members and current/former students of the University of South Alabama Glass School. We also represent several other artists and media in our gallery, including paintings, jewelry, wood carvings, furniture, pottery and more. We offer glass art classes too! You can learn furnace glassblowing, torchwork and kilnformed (fused) glass.
