🤎 Faith from the Farmhouse
Thursday, October 29 🍂
Good morning, y’all! ❤️
I was reading my devotion this morning and came across Psalm 118:24.
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Now, I don’t know about y’all, but some mornings, well, a lot of mornings, I get up and start doing one thing, and then I notice ten more things that need doing. Next thing I know, half the day’s gone, and I haven’t even gotten around to what I was planning on doing in the first place!
And I got to thinking about that. Here I am, so busy trying to get everything done, and the Lord never said I had to get everything done today. He said to rejoice and be glad in the day He’s given me.
And there’s a difference.
There’s always going to be a house that needs cleaning, floors to vacuum, laundry to fold, a barn or shed that needs cleaning out, chickens to feed and water. And by the time you get all that done, there’s something else waiting on you!
But you know, I don’t believe the Lord wants us to be so caught up in everything we think we have to get done that we forget to be thankful for the day He’s given us.
Of course, we want to get things done and take care of what He’s blessed us with. But more than anything, I want the things I do, even the little everyday things, to bring Him honor and glory.
That’s actually something I prayed about this morning. That whatever I do today, whether it’s in my kitchen, taking care of my family, or just doing things around the farm, I hope I’m doing it in a way that pleases Him.
So if you don’t get everything done on that never-ending list today, don’t let it steal the joy out of the day the Lord has given you. There’s nothing wrong with working hard, but there’s also nothing wrong with stopping for a minute and thanking Him for the blessings right in front of us.
Y’all have a blessed Thursday! ❤️
