Veteran Robert “Ken” Barmore served as a B-24 Liberator pilot during World War II.
On May 5, 1944, during a bombing mission over Romania, his aircraft was hit. Despite the danger, Barmore helped two wounded crew members escape before bailing out himself. He and the surviving crew were captured and held as prisoners of war.
After the war, Barmore spent 30 years with United Airlines and remained active in veteran organizations, honoring the bonds forged through service. He passed away in 2020 as the last surviving member of his wartime crew.
We honor his courage, sacrifice, and service.
