Our active Monsoon will continue. Many have had rain overnight and this wet pattern will continue today. Best chances just south and southwest of the Mogollon Rim, including western and central Yavapai County. Localized Flash Flooding remains possible.

Independence Day, July 4, is a free admission day for visitors to national forests, parks, refuges, and rangelands across the U.S. Come celebrate the day in the great outdoors!

As a reminder, fireworks, exploding targets and other incendiary devices are prohibited year-round on national forest lands. These devices can ignite dry vegetation instantly, threatening firefighters, nearby communities, wildlife and public lands!

Good morning northern AZ! A round of strong, gusty winds is arriving today, bringing critical fire weather conditions along with it. Wind Advisories and Red Flag Warnings are active for much of our region and will continue through the weekend.

If you're out and about, please keep these safety tips in mind:

On the Road: High-profile and lightweight vehicles will face difficult driving conditions. Slow down and give big rigs extra space.

Around the House: Secure any loose outdoor articles before they become neighborhood flying objects.

Fire Prevention: With the risk of rapid wildfire spread, please avoid anything that could spark a fire.

Special Note for the Navajo Nation & AZ/NM Border: Lingering moisture today may bring a round of showers and thunderstorms to these areas. Frequent lightning and sudden gusty winds are the main hazards, but due to the dry nature of these storms, new fire starts are a concern as well.

3:14 p.m. Wednesday, June 24

Both directions of State Route 87 are closed near Fountain Hills (milepost 213) due to a vehicle fire. This is about 13 miles north of Bush Highway.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek an alternate route.

There is no estimated time to reopen the highway.
