The Corn Crib is back! We’re packing up and heading downtown for two nights of fun

Monday & Tuesday • 4pm until sold out

The kitchen crew is making some Farm Club favorites (pozole) and a handful of other corn-centric items that are Corn Crib hits (corn dog, tostadas, masa sourdough grilled cheese).

We grow corn, we love corn, let’s celebrate corn.

Whoooweee! The holidays are behind us, let’s get down to business with some winter Farm Club fun.

Get your calendar ready, here’s the lineup:

* Half Pour Happy Hour & Mini Menu Deals:
Tuesdays - Fridays, 3 to 6pm. Starts this Thursday and we will run it through Lager Month in March.

Shortie pours for $4 and a mini menu ya gonna love. Think spelt pretzel bites with beer mustard, cheese & pickle plate, fried escabeche…

* Winter Shepherd’s Tent Dinner Series: January, February and March only. A different family style menu each month. Buy 6-12 tickets and the tent is yours. January menu = Skewers and Sides
February dates will be released later this month.

* DRIER January: Our brewers have a lineup of low ABV beers on tap ready for you to take it easy. Masa Table Beer is coming in at 2.9% and it’s a slow build from there.

* Bon Fuego is BACK! Bundle up baby, it’s fireside stew season. February 15, March 2 and March 15, 3pm-sunset. Free hot cider, s’mores kits and mugs of soup and bread warmed on the bonfire.

* Sip & Ski with January 18 & February 1. XC ski the Leelanau Trail from Shady Lane to Farm Club. Wine tastes , soup and a bev at the Farm Club finish line.

* We are bringing The Corn Crib back to Feb 9 & 10. And yes, there will be corndogs again.

It’s always sunny at Farm Club. And even when it’s not, we like to have fun. Some might even say that winter is the best time to Farm Club. Bonus! There is always parking.

“Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or jam the djembe around the bonfire on the solstice, the ceremony that envelops this this quiet dimly-lit time of year is special. Ceremony, regardless of what you choose to revere, is a ritualistic coming together that affords us the time to appreciate each other, to celebrate our good fortune and to be humble and thankful.”
From The Loma Farm Wassailer, Issue 7, Season 1.5

Solstice Celebration this Saturday, December 20
• 4-7pm • free event •

Roasted chestnuts, free hot cider and s’mores! Mulled wine available fireside AND a special release of our limited Pluot cider. We will also be tapping a cask of English Dark Mild at 2pm to kick off the celebration. A dark beer for these darkest days.

✨Let’s take the time to appreciate each other and our good fortune. ✨

It takes many hands, tools, techniques, processes, skills; knowledge learned, gained and passed along the way. Drying, seed saving, storing, selecting, timing, and the list goes on. And that’s before the ingredients even make it to the kitchen.

The farmers are wrapping up the bulk harvest for the season. And while they keep harvesting throughout the snowdrifts and the dark days of winter, they’ll start planning and planting for next year’s menu. Last week they moved the hoop house to protect the winter greens.

All winter long the market is stocked and menu chock full of the fruits of their labor. Come on by…some say winter is the best time to Farm Club 😉

Update: The donated shares have been spoken for. Thanks everyone!

If you are having a hard time putting food on the table, we have a few Fall CSA subscriptions available for free. 7 weeks of fresh vegetables, a loaf of bread and a package of freshly made pasta. No SNAP needed. No questions asked. Please DM for details.

From last week’s CSA newsletter The Loma Farm Enchanted Broccoli Forest, Issue 1, Season 14.5:

“The reality that having food is not a given. Food doesn’t just appear, it is grown in cooperation between land and people. The more reliant we become on a global food system, the more vulnerable we become. The tighter we knit ourselves together here in this place, unified in the touch on the land, the more resilient we become.”e
