Hello again Glendale Stans! What a weekend. We had a packed house almost all three days. Sorry for those who couldn't find a parking spot or a seat but we appreciate everyone who stuck it out and waited. I think the biggest surprise was when we looked and our numbers saw that it was 83% return customers. In the food truck anytime we had a busy day it was all one time customers. They were people who were on vacation that we would never see again. I'm glad they came but it does mean a little more when people start making it a point to come back year after year and include Glendale in their vacation plans.

This week should be pretty normal. I have a hankering for a Sloppy Joe so I might mess around and make up a batch. It sounds like the merch is still a week or so out. I'll post when it's all ready.

How's it going Flat Top Fanatics? Are you all ready for the unofficial start to summer this weekend? I think this might be one for the record books. It feels like I can't scroll social media without seeing an article about Traverse City's food scene or a video recommending places to stop when visiting. All that plus no road construction is probably going to add up to a couple crazy months at the Ol' Burger Shop.

We did put in a hefty merch order for the summer. Our classic shirts and burger guy hoodies will be restocked soon. There's also a few new designs that we've been cooking up. They might show up a little later than the rest of our order but it's worth the wait. I'm pretty stoked about them.

Hello Again Smash Squad! I'm currently in Petoskey for a Dungeon Crawler Carl event. I'm so stoked. The author is here to speak and I just my signed copy of A Parade of Horribles. I know this means nothing to most of you but a couple people reading this are jealous as hell.

This week at the shop was great. My birthday was Friday. People kept stopping by and dropping off food for me which was very nice. The rest of weekend kept us busy. The past few years it's been pretty quiet on Mother's Day but for some reason this Sunday was insane. We had one mom who said the only thing she wanted for Mother's Day was a Glendale Burger. Thanks to all the mom's who choose burgers over brunch this year.

We don't have anything crazy planned for this week. It might be calm before the storm. The weather looks to be warming up just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. Either way we will be here smashing beef and frying fries. Also how lovely does the restaurant look in the morning light.

Yesterday we went and checked out . We used to love Patisserie and it was great to have them back. The Tokyo Omelette was unreal. We finished the night with a belated birthday dinner at and it was perfect as always.. It was kind of a perfect Traverse City day.

Gooooood afternoon Burger People! This week update post is coming to you on a Wednesday because last night I went to an incredible house show and didn't get home until late. One of our regulars invited us to see perform at his house. There was maybe 40 of us gathered into the living room to watch a performance that blew the roof off the place. It was one of those magical northern Michigan nights where you remember why you live here. Of course it's beautiful but it's really the community that makes it special. I can't say thank you enough to James for inviting us and to Satellite Sparkle for putting the whole thing together!

As if that wasn't enough, on Sunday we went out to for first solo show. We've been a fan of her art since long before we ever became friends and it was so cool to see her newest collection. If you ever been in the restaurant there is no doubt that you've seen her work because we have multiple of her pieces around the shop. She's one of the most talented people I've ever met. The restaurant itself has been decently busy. Friday nights and Saturdays in particular have been rocking. Even though we've been at this for a few years, this April has felt different. We're busier earlier than we expected. Maybe people are starting to figure out the roundabout. Either way, we are still looking for a little more help for the summer in the front and back of the house.

Fear not burger folks. We are baaaaaack! Hopefully you all made it through the week without us. We just got home from our annual trip to lay by the ocean/a pool for a few days. It was perfect. We read a couple books and tried not to get burnt. Now we're feeling refreshed and ready to get back to smashin beef. I haven't done one of these updates in a bit so let's get into it.

Flashback to the weekend before we left. I'm not sure why but it was wild. Saturday in particular was busier than any day in all of 2025. When we closed on Sunday we only had 6 lbs of meat and a single bag of fries left. Which reminds me, we are still looking for summer help.

It looks like the past week in TC was hectic. Most things do seem to be getting back to normal after the flooding. It was weird getting all of our news and updates about the storms from Overheard in Traverse City. It probably wasn't the most reliable source but it was crazy to watch it all unfold online. Then, unfortunately had a fire that has caused them to close for months. We love that bar. Those are our friends and we can't imagine what they are going through. The Barrett Burger is back for the weekend! A Double with Swiss Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickled Red Onions, Tangy Garlic Sauce, and a bit of Hot Sauce. It's actually been on special since yesterday but I didn’t have time to make my silly little video until an hour ago. I think it was worth the wait.

Also this is your first reminder that we will be closed next week 4/15-4/19.

Welcome one and all to another Glendale Update post! I actually have a few things to talk about this week so let's get into it. First of all I hope everyone had a lovely Easter. We had brunch with family and then enjoyed our bonus day off with Beefy. It was lovely. The night before Easter we actually celebrated Brittney's birthday with all our homies at . We ate nachos, had some cocktails, and maybe stayed out a little to late. A special shout out to Tyler for picking up dessert from for Brittney. It was so nice.

The actual important part of this update is that we are taking our annual "pre-summer vacation to somewhere warm" next week. We will be CLOSED 4/15-4/19. As always I'll post a few reminders this week. That does mean you have until Sunday to get your burger fix or you'll have to go without one for a couple days. Comment any vacation book suggestions that you might have, I'm still debating what to bring. I normally pack 3 books per trip.
