We cordially invite you to the next gathering in our series of vibrant evening Salons, designed for the curious of heart and mind. Join us for an intimate, dynamic gathering of the northern Michigan hospitality community, inspired by Gertrude Stein, celebrating wine and intellectual exchange.

Our May 4 Salon features a curated selection from Benvenusa - a small portfolio of artisanal, micro producers who are defining the next era of their regions.

Benvenusa was founded in 2023 by Bobby Stuckey MS, and Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson. The mission of Benvenusa is to import small Italian growers who, for the most part, have never been imported into the U.S. These artisanal viticoltori represent what we have always loved about the country’s lesser-known wine-growing areas — undiscovered Italy, yet wines that cast a wide net of deliciousness and application.

From fried asparagus with sweet pea purée and lemon crema, to bruschetta with shaved Brussels sprouts, crisp shiitake mushrooms, and basil pesto, to char-grilled veal chop with cornmeal gnochetti, roasted wild mushrooms, and red cabbage agrodolce, our ever changing menu has embraced early season ingredients with more to come.

Wine School this morning serendipitously fell on Earth Day, perfect for Dr. Paolo Sabbatini’s presentation on the impact of soil and climate on a finished wine.

Our staff reviewed everything from macro to micro climates, sandy to clay filled soils, and physiological to vineyard management differences. Conclusion? Wine is the emergent property of a dynamic soil-climate-plant system.

This shows in the glass when comparing wines from different climates or soil types, as we evaluated when tasting an awesome line up of nine bottles featuring Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay (plus some fun surprises.) Happy Earth Day! 🌎🌍🌏
