•Did you know that Irish immigrants fought alongside Mexico during the Mexican-American War?

Facing prejudice in the 1800s because of their accents, economic status, and Catholic faith, many Irish soldiers defected from the U.S. Army and joined Mexico to help defend its land. They became known as Saint Patrick’s Battalion.

This St. Patrick’s Day, let’s honor that spirit of solidarity and celebrate Irish heritage here in southern Arizona. 🇮🇪
