Past to Present
In the past for many years people flocked to Union Center Tap owned by Dave and Jerita for their well known and delicious “Steak n’ Taters”. Not only did Dave and Jerita spend many hours there making sure that things were done they way they wanted, but you would usually find Dave tending the bar, Jerita doing the cooking and both of them greeting and getting to know each and every customer coming through the door. With great tasting food and a warm and friendly atmosphere Union Center Tap soon became so well known that one only had to mention Steak n’ Taters or “The Tap” and everyone knew exactly where you were talking about.
Sadly the time came when Dave and Jerita decided it was time to retire, explore other interests and just enjoy life. To this day people still talk about and miss stopping by for lunch or dinner. After having several different owners over the years The “Tap” sat empty for a long time as it was just never the same without Dave, Jerita or their great tasting Steak n’ Taters.
Doug Pattridge, who is one of the many people who still miss Dave & Jerita’s Steak n’ Taters, decided to take things into his own hands. Doug approached Jerita and told her of his plans and what he wanted to do. He also ask if she would teach him how to make her original Steak n’ Taters.
I am sure you know her answer if you have driven by and seen the lights on or stopped in for a bite to eat. Yes, “The Tap” has reopened under new management and brought back Dave and Jerita’s famous Steak n' Taters just like they made them!
