Well, I know I have not shared a review in a long time, but this one was too good to pass up! Due to my work schedule, I have been unable to do as many reviews over the past several months. However, I have always wanted to try Como Steakhouse in Como, MS. For years I heard the Rebel Yell Hotline show mention Como Steakhouse as one of their sponsors. Tonight I got the opportunity to try it, and it was outstanding!

The atmosphere of the restaurant has a really cool vibe! As you walk in, they are cooking the steaks right in front of you. It is in an old small town businesses and is decorated in old relics. There is also an oyster bar upstairs called Oyster Blues with a balcony. I thought it would not be very crowded since it was a Monday night, but I was wrong. The crowd on a Monday night will tell you something about how good a place is! Downtown Como is really small, but the steakhouse sets the mood for the downtown area.

For my order I got a 15 oz ribeye with a baked potato, salad, and Como delight for dessert. The salad and baked potatoes were both really good, but let’s not kid ourselves- I came for the steak!! 🥩 I ordered medium, and that steak was cooked to perfection! It was tender, seasoned well, and packed with flavor. In addition to the taste, the presentation was excellent. Como’s steak is easily one of the top steaks I have had in Mississippi. I also splurged tonight and got dessert. I went with the Como delight which was very similar to I called Preacher’s delight with graham cracker crust, cream cheese, chocolate pudding, and cool whip! It was outstanding!!

Our waitress was great- very informative, attentive, and polite! The overall experience from the time I parked until I paid for the meal was great! Please stop by if you are in the area or passing through. With all that being said, I give Como Steakhouse a solid 9.5 lip smacks out of 10!!! 😋

Mississippi Eats enjoyed a great meal this evening at a unique little spot in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Blake's Seafood, an outdoor restaurant located near Walgreen’s and Walmart in the middle of Philadelphia, was busy tonight with both takeout orders and those dining in, and after eating there tonight, I can understand why.
As we stepped out of our vehicle in the gravel parking lot, I could immediately tell this was going to be tasty based on the aroma! 😃 Customers walk up to the counter and order and then seat themselves under a pavilion-type area that is kept cool by large fans. Fun music plays and contributes to the overall atmosphere. My wife and I both ordered combination plates. She got boiled and fried shrimp, and I got fried shrimp and gator. 🍤🐊 It was all very good. The only things we didn’t really enjoy were the cole slaw and the boiled potatoes. The other sides, hush puppies and fried pickles, were great, but my favorite side was the tremendous baked beans with a smoky, pork flavor. I give Blake’s Seafood 7.5 lipsmacks, and if you are looking for great seafood in a casual setting, stop by and enjoy! 😋

Mississippi Eats was back in North Mississippi and had the opportunity to eat at The Stables Downtown Grill in Tupelo! The Stables is a cool little place with an excellent vibe! They had an up-to-date jukebox, not like the one in the old days at Pizza Hut. So that was really cool! 🤣

Tonight I went with the catfish poboy with onion rings, and it was absolutely tremendous. The poboy came out hot and fresh. The catfish was crispy and seasoned well, but what made the poboy was the brown mustard. The onion rings were very tasty as well.

Although the restaurant was really busy, our waitress, Alyssa, was very attentive and nice. Another plus is that our food came out really fast. If you are ever in Tupelo, come check The Stables out. It is located in an alley. (Just so you don’t miss it) They really did well in all three areas that I look at: food, atmosphere, and service. I give The Stables very high praise with 9 lip smacks! 😋

Mississippi Eats has eaten at many Mexican restaurants all over the state of Mississippi, and I may have found my new favorite one in Union, MS!! El Bravo is a part of the HOP and SHOP UNION 4 in 1 establishment in Union. (Gas station, El Bravo, dessert parlor, burgers/hotdogs) This location hasn’t been open long, but they are truly starting to hit their stride. 🏃🏻‍➡️

I have eaten here several times, and I am having a hard time getting away from the Birria tacos. 🌮 They have got to be the best tacos that I have ever had- So flavorful and so fresh tasting! And the green sauce that comes with the tacos is outstanding! The rice was good as well especially when you add the taco dipping sauce. My wife loves the shrimp fiesta plate here. What’s more- the chips and salsa are always great! The salsa ranks right near the top of any I’ve had!

The waiters and waitresses are really nice, and the restaurant has a cool vibe with colored lights and pretty woodwork. The only thing I would add is some Mexican music 🪇🎺🎶 (maybe I missed hearing it) If you live around or ever go through Union, please stop by because you will not be disappointed! I give El Bravo a very high 9 lip smacks! 😋

Wow, this really caught me off guard. Sad day for Greenwood and Mississippi Eats! I needed one more pint of their banana pudding!!! You will be missed The Crystal Grill!

Cheesecake for supper? Why not? This evening I had the opportunity to stop by Jubilations Coffee House for a slice of caramel praline cheesecake and a caramel latte. 🥮☕️. Jubilations is a really cool stop in West Point. They have a coffee shop, deli, and an actual cheesecake factory! 😉

The coffee shop easily ranks as one of the top three coffee shops that I have visited in Mississippi! The caramel latte was hot and smooth. It was creamy on the front end and had no tart aftertaste. It was also really hot, which for me is a plus but not the case at all coffee shops. Please don’t give me coffee that doesn’t start out hot! Now, for the best part, Jubilations’ cheesecake is the best cheesecake I have ever had. Previously, I have had the plain cheesecake, and today, I had the caramel praline. The cheesecake is not heavy like some cheesecakes but still has the consistency I like in a cheesecake. Simply outstanding!!!

The service and the atmosphere are top-notch as well. The ladies could not have been nicer. If you love coffee and cheesecake, you simply have to stop by Jubilations in West Point. With that said, Mississippi Eats gives Jubilations Coffee House a perfect 10 Lipsmacks!! 😋

After working out of state for while, Mississippi Eats is back in the Magnolia State and sharing my experiences at restaurants in our great state. 😀 This week, I had an opportunity to be on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a couple of days, and my wife and I enjoyed a fine dining experience at Mary Mahoney's. The service was truly outstanding from our server Brittney who went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of, and she had a very welcoming and pleasant personality. We began with a shrimp cocktail for an appetizer followed by salad, and both were excellent. My wife ordered the shrimp and crab au gratin which was savory. The crust was cooked to perfection and gave way to delicious seafood, cheese, and sauces inside. I had the shrimp and oyster platter. Both were delicious, but I preferred the shrimp. 🍤 When our very attentive server found out we were celebrating our anniversary, she brought us a scrumptious complimentary bread pudding with rum sauce. ❤️💍 Needless to say, there was not a bite of that left! The entire experience and atmosphere at Mary Mahoney’s was elegant and very fitting for a nice evening out and especially to celebrate a special occasion. I give Mary Mahoney’s a solid 9 lip smacks! 😋

Mississippi Eats had the opportunity to eat at AJ’s Foodtruck in Union yesterday for lunch! This is my first time to do a review on a food truck, and it was outstanding! 😀 I will be back!

AJ’s has your traditional food truck items, but they also have daily specials of home-cooked food! For my first time here, I went with the bacon cheeseburger and fries! 🍔🍟 The hamburger was truly excellent! It had a thick hand-patted beef patty that was cooked to perfection. It was very juicy and tasty, and the fries were seasoned well. The food was really fresh, and my glass of sweet tea hit the spot! On top of that, the price was very affordable! 💲

I got my order to go, and I didn’t have to wait very long at all! The ladies who took my order were very friendly! I can’t wait to go back and try the daily specials and other items off the menu. Go check them out if you are in the area. Support local businesses!! In conclusion, I give AJ’s 9 lip smacks! 😋

Mississippi Eats has the opportunity to eat all across the state of Mississippi and encounter many great places, but sometimes I like to do a little cooking of my own. One of the keys to a good cook at home is the quality of the protein/ingredients that is used!

Fortunately for me, I had an outstanding provider of fresh cut beef from Infinity Farms Beef, which is just a few miles from my house in Union, MS. Infinity Farms sells farm fresh beef of all cuts and even has beef box sets of many different varieties at a great price. 😀

As you can see from the photos, I cooked a brisket on my pellet grill smoker all day Saturday! 🔥 The brisket turned out great! It was juicy, had a nice smoke ring, and a really good taste. I would like to take the credit, but it was the fine cut brisket provided by Infinity Farms Beef that made it delicious! Not only do they provide a quality product, but the owners are also outstanding people.
