Poverty To Prosperity

Poverty To Prosperity Our mission is to provide families trapped in poverty an opportunity to create wealth.

Our theory is that if you supplement an impoverished family with financial investment and education — their ability to take risks will increase as well as their income.

What is Poverty to Prosperity?
Simply put; a vehicle to eliminate involuntary poverty. We operate with the understanding that success and risk is synonymous. To find success you must have the ability to take risks. People entrenched in poverty do not have the freedom to take risks when they are worrying about the electric bill. You can’t think about tomorrow when you’re struggling to get through today. A financial investment into each impoverished family alongside the proper training, education and mentorship helps solve this problem. It allows impoverished families an opportunity to transition out of crisis mode and to start planning for the future and pursuing their dreams. Our mission is simple. To allow families trapped in poverty an opportunity to become financially independent and prosperous. Our theory is that if you supplement an impoverished family with financial investment and education — their ability to take risks will increase as well as their income.

Poverty to Prosperity will start here in Dubuque and will serve as a case study for eliminating poverty not only in our community but eventually across our country as well. It will begin by operating within the framework of Resources Unite. They will help select the candidates and provide administrative support. Each candidate and their family will begin their journey with an intake appointment to curate a customized plan centered around the candidates skills and goals. Digital profiles will be created for each candidate detailing their story and tracking their progress through the program. They will then be paired with a mentor that helps guide them through the program and introduce them to various resources and networks in the community that help their professional and intrapersonal development. Over the course of this yearlong program candidates will participate in classes ranging from financial literacy and wealth planning to entrepreneurial training and personal development. By the conclusion of the program graduates will have been armed with the resources and knowledge that enables them to take risks and find financial success. Furthermore they will have earned a $10,000 investment to help in pursuing their dreams.

Think of all the extraordinary talent that goes undiscovered and is lost due to the forces of generational poverty. Lost in this massive web is the next president of the United States, a doctor that cures cancer or an engineer that takes the human race to another planet. We’re capable of incredible things but as long as people are entrapped in poverty these miracles will continue to go undiscovered. Provide people with education, training and investment then watch the beauty that blossoms.

“Dubuque Airport’s only restaurant, Judy’s Runway Café and Catering, has been closed since spring. Though the newest round of service cuts did not affect the decision to close, restaurant owner Luke Schiltz said, “It’s unfortunate because the airlines say they are a public service provider. Now they’re nowhere to be found.”

Schiltz, 26, opened Judy’s in October 2018, replacing two previous businesses that had failed within their first years of operation. Judy’s seemed to be on a different trajectory and was profitable in 2019. When Covid upended the industry, he initially tried to innovate and take advantage of changes such as new liquor sales policies, but the cost was too high. “We wanted to make sure we had the resources to play the long game and open back up,” said Schiltz — so Judy’s has been closed for most of the year.

Schiltz luckily runs a second nonairport related business, so he can stay afloat. He has tried to move the restaurant’s employees to his other company, the discount service provider Errand Boys, but the physical nature of some work has meant that not everyone could make the shift.”

Unfortunately they only published a short version of what I said about the airlines. Here’s the full quote: “The airlines always proclaim how they are a public service provider when it comes time to rake in billions of tax payer dollars. The major players have been allowed to achieve a monopolistic stronghold over the market and now are nowhere to be found when it’s time to provide the so called public service that they supposedly offer.”

What’re your thoughts on the airlines? Legally and ethically the answer may differ but should they be allowed to cut services and disrupt local economies? In my opinion, if there had been a true free market in the airline industry the competition would’ve naturally caused the industry to progress at a faster rate ensuring regional airports had different carriers to choose from. Since this isn’t the case do they not have any social or even legal responsibility to maintain services after being allowed to monopolize and take billions of tax payer dollars?

On a somewhat similar note, why are drug companies allowed to acquire money from the public (forcibly through the government) for R&D and then charge the public for the medicine they create? If I’m paying someone to do something I expect to not have to pay them twice. Corporate welfare and anti competitive markets are destroying our economy and it’s the small guys and gals who are paying the price.

Regional airports are struggling with the impact of big carriers' service suspensions on their economies.

Hello,

My name is Luke Schiltz and I am the owner of Errand Boys LLC. I started this business five years ago as a full time single father with my lawnmower and snowblower. After continually reinvesting profits back into the business we started to grow our list of equipment as well as the services we could offer. We now help with everything from moving and painting to landscaping and general contracting. We can package services together at a discounted rate to save you money. For example, when it comes time to sell your house you don’t hire separate companies to help you paint, clean and move. You call Errand Boys so we can help with everything and save you money. We’ve insulated our business with experienced and detail-oriented workers to ensure you’re receiving the highest quality of work at a discounted rate. Our references and referrals speak for themselves. View our website www.errandboysdbq.com or our page .

We are very passionate about what we do and the clients we serve. Our first goal as a business is creating long lasting relationships with customers. You can rest assured that we will treat you, your family and your property as we do our own. Since starting Errand Boys we’ve added an incredible amount of customers to our family and our mission is to make you part of it as well!

Sincerely,

Luke Schiltz

Global Crises Prices on produce

The Food Store. CLICK HERE to view the Produce Price Comparison List at michaelbreitbach.com,...you can also look at the meat prices of my three main suppliers...beef, chicken, and pork...exactly no one else around has this inventory.
And mind you, I make vegetarian and vegan meals and I will stock what people need if they really need it. Tell me what you need and would like to buy regularly at a Neighborhood Store.

The Life Force Newsletter

The Summer Market will open in a couple weeks, but there will be no arts and crafts, there will be no music, and there will be no hot food or beverages being served.

Social distancing will be prioritized and there will probably be a lot of gloves and masks. This could likely go through the whole season...

The Food Store introduced hot food and music to Farmers' Market some years back and created an atmosphere that got popular fast. Food and music popped up all throughout the Market.

For now, The Food Store will be doing take out from the store front...sold to go. There will be Egg Rolls on Market.

Peaches were good last week, more coming. Caras, heirloom navels, and Pixie tangerines still available.

Asparagus is flowing, there's fresh green beans, and broccoli is cheap this week...four kinds of potatoes.

I don't know what the new restrictions are going to do to The Food Store...Summer Market is my largest stream of revenue. Folks have been supportive over the last several weeks,...the lights are still on.

Call me if you are looking for something or you have a question.
