We were deeply saddened to learn of Steve Watts’ passing last Sunday at age 80. Steve, his father Bob, and his grandfather Herb, operated Watts Restaurant in Utica from 1912 until 2015, when Steve sold it to Roger McCoy and Myron Coblentz. My wife Beth and I assumed ownership of Watts in 2022. I had dinner with Steve shortly afterwards and he said he was very pleased with what we were doing with the restaurant and especially happy that we decided to keep the “Watts” name. I assured him that wouldn’t be changing on our watch. Godspeed, Steve.

We were honored to host the Utica HS Class of 1956 today for lunch at Watts Restaurant. This year we have hosted many class and family reunions, a 100th birthday party and a 70th wedding anniversary. We are very proud to be part of our customers’ special life occasions and the fabric of the central Ohio community.

We often see cool vintage cars rolling into the Watts parking lot. Hard to believe Watts had been open 50+ years when this beauty rolled off the assembly line 60+ years ago. Come see…..and taste!…..why we’ve been around 114 years!

We were pleased to host members of the third generation of the Utica Christy family, in town from Texas to spread their father’s ashes. Their grandmother worked at Watts in the 1930s and their mother also worked here. They have fond memories of eating at Watts as children. We love to hear stories like this….part of the Watts heritage.

Come to the first (hopefully annual) car show at Mill Street Distillery tomorrow, co-sponsored by Mill Street and Watts Restaurant. Proceeds will benefit the Utica Food Pantry and Pack-a-Sleigh Toy Drive. It should be a beautiful day!
