Since the Wexford Garden & Pond tour is coming up this weekend, we are highlighting our pond plants! 🪷
Pro tip: Some of these plants are fully aquatic, while others are “aquatic marginal plants”, which are best planted along the edges of a pond, where their roots are consistently wet but not fully submerged.
Another pro tip: you don’t actually need a big fancy fish pond to add plants like these to your garden!
Many eco-conscious gardeners use a plastic container placed in the ground and arranged with stones and plants to create a small “pond” in their garden.
This simple addition creates a destination for thirsty pollinators, as well as a haven for native amphibians and other critters.
Once you’ve got your pond set up, the plants shown here help filter the water to avoid stagnation!
