Introducing our newest Obscura release ~ Colombia La Sierra "Very Berry" ~ available as a pour over or in 8 oz bags for retail
Obscura is the third category in our pour over program, which lets us showcase unique, experimental, and even a little weird but SUPER fun microlots/nanolots. These coffees are produced in very small quantities, so once they're gone, they're gone!
This is such a beautiful new offering with an equally beautiful story. Proyecto Renacer was created by brothers Cristian and Johnathan Raigosa to help restore La Sierra, a community once heavily affected by violence in the 80s. Today, the project connects more than 30 producers across 13 farms, helping those farmers receive fair prices while investing back into the local community. They also partner with a local addiction recovery center - Hogar Casa Claret- to create new opportunities beyond just coffee.
🍇Tasting Notes: Raspberry compote, red grape, cacao & goji berry 🍇
🍒 The Very Berry Process: The Raigosa brothers created their own 'Very Berry' fermentation process to showcase its berry forward flavors. It begins as a honey process, where the outer fruit is removed but the sticky, sugary mucilage is left on the seed. The coffee is fermented for 300-hours, allowing those natural sugars to interact with the coffee seed longer than a traditional honey process. The result is intensely fruit-forward and vibrant berry notes, rich sweetness, and a syrupy body.
A note from our roaster, Kiah: I had a lot of fun roasting this one, and I can't wait for everyone to try it. Let me know what tasting notes you pick up! ❤️
