Hello wonderful people! I hope you all are having a beautiful beginning to the long weekend.

I did receive some news this past week that I need to share with you all.. I will not be able to open up shop this weekend. There has been a hiccup with licensing. I had done the necessary paperwork and licenses, however, I am being told I need other permits... apparently. It will most likely be a drawn out process.

Until I get this taken care of I will not be able to set up the pop up shop. I will keep the community updated on when I will be serving again! I'm still waiting to hear if I would be able to offer my catering service to those who would rather me deliver to them or pick up their order. But I am kind of in the dark with this whole thing and just know that I won't be able to proceed. Until I receive the correct information there isn't much else I can say.

I had stated before that what I am doing would be temporary since I am working with what I've got, and the pop up shop was a way to get people to try my food. Because it is catering of course and not a restaurant...

Thank you to all who have shown support! I don't think anyone understands how much this has meant to me. This was a tremendous opportunity for me to showcase my culture, which I am proud of. AND of course I got to meet new people while hearing how much you enjoyed my food!

PM me if you have any questions. Other than that, I hope to serve the community of Vernonia some delicious Dominican food once again at a later date.

Sorry y'all!
Gracias por todo, y nos vemos!

Wishing every mother a happy Mother’s Day 💐 hope you have an incredible day, sending love from my soul!

-Update

I will be setting up out on the Senior Center porch on the 14th of May!
I will have my usual menu items AND I’m also thinking of introducing la bandera (rice, beans, meat). Kind of spontaneous, I know, but I’m sure you will love it 😋🇩🇴

Hello everybody 😊

I appreciate everyone that had stopped by to try some food. It’s a journey that has been pretty exciting. I am always open to constructive criticism especially if it means I can serve the community of Vernonia better. I am sincerely grateful for the kindness and support, and giving me the opportunity to grow & learn.

I will be set up at 547 w**d ave on the patio at the Vernonia Senior Center today until I sell out! I have pastelitos, tamales, mini guava cannoli, and ice cream!

Now that I have been up and going for about a month I’ve made some changes… there will no longer be deliveries unless you are ordering for catering services. I am going to be setting up pop up shops every other Sunday and will let people know ahead of time. Apologies for not getting a notice out quick enough, it’s been a busy time.

I wanted to also thank the community of Vernonia for the support!

I will be posting the menu separately.

Hello everyone!
I have indeed created a page to get myself organized 😂. I am new to this all, so pardon me. It is very exciting to share these Dominican style treats with you all!
I wanted to go ahead and post this with some updates.

-Firstly, I did know the yaniqueque would be something people would like very VERY much. I did take them off of the menu, but they will be available in the future. I would also like to introduce more kinds of traditional sweets in the future. Therefore, after the 6th of March the yaniqueques will not be available.

-I will also be delivering locally in Vernonia only. Anyone who is out of town and would like a bulk order must come and pick up.

-My hours to take orders are Monday through Thursday any time. My cutoff time for orders is 3:00PM Thursday! If you happen to order after that day, you will be added to the count for the next week.

-Thank you again!

And on a side note: I figured that a lot of folks may be curious about the Dominican Republic, so, I am going to put some links in this post as well. Give them a read if you'd like 🙂

"Before everyone jumps up to point out the most obvious difference, let’s get it out of the way. Mexican food is famous for being spicy, while Dominican food—with only a couple of exceptions like chivo picante (spicy goat stew) and rabo encendido (spicy oxtail soup/stew)—is most definitely not."

Fun Fact:
What is the national food of the Dominican Republic?

La Bandera
One of the most common recipes in the Dominican Republic is La Bandera, which is considered the national dish. It is a colorful meal that matches the colors of the country’s flag and consists of rice, red beans, meat, and salad.
