Schmaltz's Sandwich Shop Schmaltz's Sandwich Shoppe opened in 1975 on the Baylor campus in Waco, Texas. The Baylor location closed in 1982. Available in original and whole-wheat.

It soon became popular with the students and the following year opened a second location in downtown Waco, followed by a third on Vally Mills Drive. The secret to the longevity of Schmaltz's is the bread. Our oven-toasted artisan bread is made by hand every day with a crunchy crust and a soft, airy center. Our menu items have grown over the years to include a variety of sandwich toppings, soups, salads and even a selection of low fat sandwiches.
