Thank you Andrea Applewick for the absolutely amazing tour of the international headquarters for Illy Coffee in Trieste, Italy. WOW! The history, the technology, the family, and the factory, were all so special. Their factory production facility is Top Secret, so we were not allowed to take pictures inside. It was an incredible tour of where Italy’s number one coffee is roasted and packaged. Of course, illy is the coffee we serve at Azzurro Coffee Waco. Thrilled that we are able to visit Italy 🇮🇹. This trip was originally planned right before COVID. We postponed it for a long time, but now we are finally here! After visiting Florence and Bolzano, two amazing cities in their own right, we traveled further east to the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, where my family is from. It was especially meaningful to visit the Duomo di San Michele Arcangelo. This is the church in their hometown where my grandparents were married. Then, 50 years after their wedding, they returned to San Daniele from the U.S. to renew their vows. San Daniele means so much to our family. It’s the beginning of a story about Italian immigrants who came to the United States to live the American dream. Of course, we couldn’t leave without indulging in the world’s finest prosciutto. Prosciutto di San Daniele!

During Fall & Winter, we offer our most requested special a few times during these cooler months. Eggplant Parmigiana. This year, due to so many requests, we’ll make it available more often. The MOROSO family recipe requires two days of preparation before we serve it. With over a dozen sumptuous layers, this dish that originates from both Campania and Sicily, is a labor of Italian love ❤️. We are especially humbled when guests who say they don’t particularly care for eggplant try it and say it’s one of the best things they have ever eaten.
