It’s been a long time since I posted ! But I want the community to know, from me, the cafe has a pending sale which I think everyone will be very happy about.
Although it’s the first time, to my knowlwdge, this little building has not changed hands as a cafe, it is being sold as a business I believe the community will thorougly enjoy.
I first worked ( on the midnight shift) at 906 , Fifty, ( yes 50) years ago when it was then Granato’s. The community was far different then with the mines and logging industries in full swing and a lot of weekend excitement always going on!
Many people still in the community today including myself, have memories both recent and going way back which include the cafe in its heyday . It’s been a vital part of Wakefields history and mine. From running a business with my daughter Nicole to seeing Jayla at 8 years old, sharing treats inside with her little friends Ive had many special experiences. I take its history seriously, so even though Ive had offers for just the land where the little cafe would likely have been torn down and the land repurposed, I couldnt do it. This tough little place has survived way too much to end like that. There are places that while we may “ own” them, are an entity unto themselves, have a life of thier own, and are more than the food and drinks served inside. 906 Cafe and all the names before it, is one of those places.
Many of you have welcomed and are following the story of the young couple to whom Ive chosen to sell. My family wishes them joy and many of their own new memories as they include 906 Cafe in their lives .
God Bless those of you who supported us- you were a special part of our time.
May God Bless and keep this little place chugging along for whatever lies ahead.
Thank you , Vicki Parker and family
