Extremely sorry for the delay today!!! BUT HERE IT IS!!!!
It is a House made Italian Style Pasta and Meatballs dinner!!!! Inspired by a secret recipe from my grandmother from Italy! Over the years everyone has tried to copy this recipe and my grandma wouldn't share it with ANYONE! I was somehow able to convince her to pass along the recipe to us so we can continue the recipe and keep it alive as she gets older and she can focus on herself for once!
My grandmother's story is below:
"I hope you will enjoy this new addition to the Farmer In The Dell’s menu. My name is Carmela Iarrobino, and I am Matthew Donnellan’s grandmother (Nonnie). I introduced my home-made sauce to the staff at the Dell and hope that you will enjoy it as much as I do preparing it.
I was born in Lapio, Italy, and I came to the United States in the 1950’s in the hopes of pursuing the American dream. I came to America when I was 15 and much responsibility was put on me to take care of my siblings as they arrived in the states. I married my husband in 1955 and we raised 4 children. I now have 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
I learned at an early age how to jar fresh tomatoes, and for the most part, I use fresh tomatoes in my sauce. Food in the Italian family is a way to express love of family. For many years (until the blue laws changed everything), Sundays were “family” day. Pasta on Sunday, then we would go visiting relatives or relatives came to visit us. I kept that tradition even when my grandchildren were growing up. Whoever was available was welcome in my “casa” (home) on any given Sunday. And it always centered around a good meal. It was a way for the cousins to spend time with each other and establish family relationships. So, as you can see, everything revolves around a good meal.
I am honored that my grandson and Danielle asked for my recipe, and I enjoyed sharing it with the staff and teaching them how I make my homemade sauce. Of course I am biased to Italian food, but I feel that it is a staple in families. There is nothing like gathering around a table with family and enjoying a good meal. I hope you can taste the authentic Italian cooking in every bite.
