You guys really showed up! After days of incessant lines out the door, it was time to flip the sign. Jack and Eric had been dj’ing those final hours. Final Countdown and I Just Want to Celebrate played a few times. But when I was sent this video, I just love that this was playing. “Cherish the love. Cherish the life….We should cherish the life we live…The world is always changing. Nothing stays the same.”

Thank you .stunts and . We were an amazing team! What a whirlwind! Endless gratitude to everyone who supported us throughout the years. We played small parts in your big days. We were there for promposals and college acceptances. We sent you off to job interviews and awaited the news the next day. We consoled each other when there was a loss and celebrated beautiful new arrivals.

Some of you, we saw EVERYDAY! So, I know my smile doesn’t make this easier for you. I’m sorry if I minimized what you’re feeling. But change IS good. It’s only the beginning.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you! And if you’re an author, poet or artist, reach out! My new endeavor includes you! Our collective *needs* you. New books are being released, art works are being sold! Opportunity is all around us.

To say Washington’s first annual Poetry Month changed my life would be an understatement. Because so many of you are asking, more details will follow but since then… I’ve edited two books for an up and coming author, planned an East Coast book tour (working on another), hammered out a 5digit book deal with a major publisher for a 3rd book, started my own book, become a scout for another publisher and created a company that shepherds artists and authors in unique ways that suit each individual’s needs… among a few other things. Like, for real, there’s more! I am definitely NOT supposed to be at The Po any longer. After bringing the poet Robert L Arnold to town, packing the house at our poetry event and having thousands watch via zoom and social media, I realized wanted more. What became crystal clear- I will always jump in the deep end, I have faith I will stay afloat and I will accept nothing but what brings me joy. You can have it all. For real. For years, my passion *was* this cafe. And so many of you are sharing the sweetest Po stories with me. What’s neat is Robert actually seems to have put his finger on the pulse of The Po so I wanted to share his words with all of you before O close this chapter. And if you feel so inclined, you can find his spoken word, essays and poetry all over social media.

As always, to all of you.

Enjoy!

Concept:
Poetry Rocks were originally developed in 2019 by Kateland Kelly, author and Physician Associate, as an interactive way for her patients to use mixed media to connect with their own emotional wellbeing as part of her project, The Secular Prayers of Medicine: Stories from the Frontlines.

Each workshop includes prepared pre-painted rocks for attendees to select and then decorate with found words. Kateland offers attendees the option to either decorate their rocks with prepared poems or they can use supplies to “find” poems in collected mixed media items (magazines, books, illustrations). As attendees are walked through the project, Kateland also reviews types of poetry, shares some of her published poems for inspiration, and describes the link between advocacy, art, and self care drawing on her 15 years of practice in Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine.

All supplies are included (prepared rocks, Modge Podge, pre-cut words, images, and designs, markers and pens) and each attendee will leave with a better understanding of found poetry, mixed media art, and their own Poetry Rock.

Not much has changed outside the window of this historic building- the iconic New England green, the church, The Frederick Gunn School campus, the rolling hills of Litchfield County- and that’s just the way we like it! We might get a little (a lot!) more snow out there this weekend but our steam pipes are crankin’. So come in this morning for a Po Taco and coffee or later for a fresh fruit smoothie and a Flat Rate burger. Catch up with a friend, warm up together! We can’t wait to
