To whom it may concern:
It saddens us to see how quickly people resort to social media to express dissatisfaction rather than a constructive dialogue with us.
Being seniors ourselves, we are now aware how social media can escalate situations, particularly when individuals choose to publicly criticize a business without first reaching out to the owners for resolution. Such actions can lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary harm to those who have dedicated the last 4 decades to supporting their community and fostering a respectful family-oriented restaurant.
It's disheartening to see people on social media dictate how a business should handle these unforeseen situations, even resorting to harassment and threatening phone calls and e-mails by people who are not familiar with our establishment. This approach seems to undermine the basic principles of communication and respect.
As owners who operate and work daily in the restaurant business, we understand the complexities involved, and it feels like humanity is changing in ways that challenge our values in the real world.
Running a business is no easy feat; it requires understanding, patience, and a commitment to values that prioritize community and respect. While we acknowledge the concerns and do not condone the actions regarding our employee, it is crucial to remember that no one can control the behavior of others. An open conversation with us would have allowed for a more appropriate and meaningful resolution.
We choose not to engage in social media discussions regarding our former employee. She made a poor decision, and our hope is that this is a learning experience for everyone.
We empathize with both new and established businesses, as these situations can be devastating. It is crucial to recognize that a single decision, comment or post can have lasting consequences and impact the hard work and dedication you’ve worked your whole life creating.
After 46 years in business, Deacon Blues has always valued its customers, who have become like family to us. We are proud of our foundation built on respect and integrity, not on profits or fear mongering. We are grateful for the continued support we have received from those who understand our commitment to these principles.
