So the meat supplier that we normally get our rib tips from is currently out of stock so we've been purchasing rib tips from different suppliers. The rib tips that we have now are somewhat inconsistent. They are perfectly fine to eat but we don't feel comfortable charging people money for something that we're not use to selling.

The supplier has agreed to give us credit for them but they can't take them back once they've left the warehouse. So we have given some to the staff, donated some to a couple of community organizations and we want to donate the rest to the community.

We've bagged them, placed them in the freezer and we will be giving them away all week for free while supplies last. Stop in at the hostess stand and and pick up a bag to take home (limit one per person) and please share so that we can feed as many people as possible.

This Is why I hate chain restaurants!!!! We were busy yesterday, short staffed so while I was out running errands I thought I would pick up food for my team. I stopped at a hot chicken chain in the area. I ordered three hot chicken sandwiches, double smash burger and 24 wings. The cost of the wings was $26.99

The wing in this picture was not altered and it's not AI. I know I have large hands but COME ON MAN!!!!!! None of the sandwiches came with fries, they combined them in the same container and it was a chicken tender and not a breast or a thigh!!!!

I know times are tough in the restaurant business but this is tired and sad!!!!! Y'all need ya ASS Whuuupped for serving me these tiny ass wings!

The website is back up and running and so is the online ordering feature! We are happy to take your online orders or you can come in and dine with us in our main dining room or in the bar at 4pm for happy hour. Cheers!

If you're new to the platform this is a voice mail that was secretly recorded and the person on that recording is someone that I thought I was cool with. I would always shake his hand and embrace him whenever he came into the restaurant and I NEVER had an argument or disagreement with him. He said that in eight months I'll be out of business and here we are fourteen years later since that voicemail was left.

It's always nice to know what people are saying behind your back despite the smiles and kind words they say to your face. I will repost this video every year on the anniversary date of that voicemail to remind myself and that person, that we are still here and still working hard to be the best versions of ourselves that we can possibly be. Always let your haters be your motivators!

If you've been to the restaurant over the past week you've noticed this large mural being painted on the side of the building. This mural is our love letter to Waukegan connecting the iconic lighthouse to Big Ed's BBQ. With the amount of out of town visitors coming to the area, Big Ed's BBQ has become a destination restaurant. does not always get portrayed in the best light but we are proud to call Waukegan home and we are proud to represent Waukegan and as a whole to the entire world!

This mural was painted by the lovely and talented . If you look at her Instagram account Krystal has painted murals all over the country and we are honored to add this piece to her very impressive body of work. This tiny little woman is a self taught artist who never took an art class and by herself with no assistance, completed this mural in just nine days by hand! This is what she does for a living so let's put this talented young woman to work and hire her for your home or business.

We're hoping that everyone that visits the restaurant will stop and take a picture with the mural and share it on all of your socials to help continue to spread the word about Big Ed's BBQ and this talented young lady. Thank you Krystal for painting this truly remarkable piece of art!

We will be closed Saturday July 4th and Sunday July 5th so that our team can receive some much needed paid time off to enjoy the holidays with their families. We will reopen Tuesday July 7th at 11:00am.

Our website is still down and will probably remain down until sometime next week. If you would like to place a to go order you can still do so in person at the host stand or carry out counter or at the bar. Big Ed Nation!!!!! Today is an extra special day because it's my baby boy's birthday! Words can not express how much I LOVE you and cherish the relationship that we have develolped over the years. Fighting back tears as I write this because I knew how much God truly loves me because he gave me a son like you! I LOVE you son with my whole heart! Happy birthday baby boy!

My dad taught me how to cook. He passed away of lung cancer when I was just 19 years old and he never got to see me in the restaurant, he never got to meet his gradkids and it's the day before Father's Day and I am missing him liek crazy! If you still have your dad in your life, tell him you Love him and hug him a little tighter today because you are blessed to have him in your life. I'd give anything in the world to have my dad walk through doors of this restaurant so that I could hug him and tell him how much I LOVE him!
