So, I guess this is it. Our lunch service turned out to be the end of the road for us. We no longer have enough inventory to finish out the day.

I’d like to thank all of our wonderful guests and crew for supporting us over these past years. What began as a little 24 seat burrito shop in a sleepy upstate Pennsylvania town called Wellsboro, grew into a place that had welcomed thousands of guests and employed many people over the years. For an independent restaurant to survive 5 years these days is an accomplishment of which we can all be proud. This endeavor has been a labor of love, and while it has never been financially viable, we could not have done it for as long as we did without all of you. We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our little burrito shop.

We all mourn the loss of our favorite restaurants for they provide us with so much more than food. They provide nourishment for our soul and when they are gone, much of the soul of the neighborhoods in which they resided will be gone as well: missing out on seeing our favorite server who remembers what we like to eat, sitting at the table that makes us most comfortable, talking to the owner about life in general or seeing the hardworking support staff take extra care to provide us with a dropped napkin or fork replacement. All these small gestures that make us feel at home in our neighborhood will be missing. And that will make our neighborhoods feel lacking as well–less interesting, less familiar, less inviting. These are some of the things that define BEING AT HOME in our community. They are a gathering place to share accounts of our days, to celebrate big events in our lives or just share a table with our friends.

In closing, it is my hope that if you are reading this, you will invest in supporting the small independent businesses in the area, for they truly are… your neighbors and friends.

- This could very well be our last day serving food. If you haven't yet gotten your Johnny'z fix on... today's the day. Annnnd, If you haven't yet taken advantage of our Hot Sauce and Curiously Strong Condiment Sale... Get in here before it's gone.

Soooo, this week has been an intense bumper car ride. Everyone that has come out for their last Johhny'z fix has been wonderful and oh, so supportive. We're going to close for the day on Saturday, August 7th, in order to regroup and prepare for our final week in business. Sorry for the short notice, but quite frankly, the whole crew is exhausted. We'll look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

After careful consideration… It is with great sadness that I am announcing the closure of Johnny’z Hot Rod Cafe at 17-1/2 Crafton Street on or before August 14th, 2021. We will be selling down existing inventory until depleted.
