Some days, I pinch myself in disbelief—three whole years since we started The Grün Hexe!🎉3️⃣ 🎉 Looking back, there's so many great memories and laughs. One meaningful memory that hops back into my mind, is dear Patrice.🐇
Picture this: fewer than three days to our grand opening. Audra and I had our to-do list a mile long. Suddenly, chaos struck. The plumbing decided to stage a protest, and we found ourselves drilling a hole in our beautiful, just-remodeled kitchen floor to recover an auger stuck in the plumbing pipe. With our kitchen prep at a standstill, we shifted gears to front-of-house decor and planting as many plants as we could. A little plant distraction, have you.🌱🪴🌿
My two-year-old daughter was with us, “helping” with decorating when out of nowhere she shrieks, “Mom, there’s a bunny!” We all looked at each other in disbelief. She was adamant she saw a bunny, and I hesitated to believe my toddler—until we pulled out a cooler she claimed it had hidden behind, and there it was: a tiny baby bunny! We named her Patrice. I had brought in some extra pots from my garden shed, we realized that must have been her home. We released her back into her environment and took it as a sign.
Rabbits, while timid, are remarkable survivors. They remind us to face our fears instead of allowing them to immobilize us. It was a timely message to trust our instincts and stay focused on the present rather than getting lost in worrying about the unknown.
Within 48 hours (and a couple hours of sleep) we opened our doors. Audra somehow prepped out the whole menu, made fresh pasta and homemade desserts. Our incredible team of family and friends rallied behind us to help with the final cleaning and details. We did it! And here we are, three years later. Thank you, everyone, for your unwavering support! And remember when life forces you to jump like a bunny- pivot, zig-zag and find a positive creative path around the problem.💚
