We have had a very stressful month here.. W***y the pig is still having intestinal issues and we are alternating different foods in an effort to help him through. He does have a farm call on Friday to get hoofs trimmed and will discuss the ongoing issues with the doctor.
Then our sweet boy Sawyer who was transported from Tennessee a few years ago in horrible condition because of untreated injuries resulting in a tail amputation that left us unable to manually express him and although he was able to void on his own when relaxed and sleeping it was not enough to completely empty his bladder resulting in a constant UTI which although continuously treated never completely cleared resulting in him developing sepsis and crashing. We knew he would not have a long life but we were hoping for far more than we got.
And then our sweet Gimli showed signs of a UTI on Memorial Day and we started him on antibiotics but this morning he was in a lot of discomfort and was not urinating.
He also has Manx syndrome and although he urinates and defecates on his own he also does not totally empty his bladder and his level of Manx syndrome does not allow manually expressing him.
Thank you Doctor Lappin for taking the time to insure his bladder was emptied and he is still with us.
We will be scheduling him for surgery to basically give him the anatomy of a female thus insuring he won’t be blocking again.
