Lots of announcements for the day!

First, bring your kiddos to the shop on Wednesday night for some Halloween fun!

Second, we have two neighborhood events with our truck this week. We will be doing neighborhood events for as long as the weather allows! And we will be bringing seasonal specialties along with us. This week, on the truck, we will have our Biscoff Matilda sundae, our carrot-cake Annie and our pumpkin roll sundae.

Third, it’s almost pie season 😱😱 IYKYK
November pie preorders open on our website on Wednesday!!!!! We cannot wait!

We’re retiring our OG truck and building out another to replace it. Don’t worry - we’re still running our second truck for a few more weeks.

But this OG lady is tired and rusty. Maybe we’ll end the night with a Viking funeral on Hoover Reservoir! 🔥🔥🔥

Well, people, the final days of running our first truck have come. This was her ninth season, and we can definitively say that running her for another season would be a risk we would rather not take.

The good news!?!? We are pulling out everything inside of her and putting it all in a new truck - which means my husband gets to spend his winter building out another truck! I doubt he expected to have “ice cream truck builder” at the top of his resume when he graduated with a history degree all those years ago. But here we are!

We bought this truck nine years ago for $1400, so we feel pretty satisfied that we were able to run it for as long as we were. We paid exponentially more than that for the replacement truck, which almost ended up in the ditch outside our house when it got delivered a few weeks ago. But it’s here and ready for us!

There are so many things we will miss about driving this truck. The sheer thrill of wondering whether it could all fall apart at any moment, like those cartoons you see where, in the end, someone is just holding a steering wheel and running on the ground while the vehicle crumbles to bits around them. The knowledge that the underbelly of the truck is completely rusted out in every way. The complete lack of any shock absorption. Those random moments when the engine shuts off right in the middle of driving down the street - we’ve never felt so alive! The fact that we must manually turn on the windshield wiper for every swipe in the middle of a storm. It’s all just so electrifying, I’m not sure how we will survive without it.

You will have two opportunities to visit our OG truck for the last time this week. One in Dublin, and one in our classic spot, Galena. Come say goodbye and sign your name on her! Write a story on her. Write down a memory on her. And then let us know what the heck you think we should do with this shell of a beast. We want all your ideas!!

Our golden girl, Goldie, is back! One of our original fall sundaes - apple, pear and cranberry compote, maple-oat streusel, cardamom caramel sauce, whipped cream. Here until Thanksgiving. And don’t forget our pumpkin roll sundae.

This is our Simone sundae, named after our fourth daughter, Simone. Chocolate-cookie crumble, espresso pudding, maple-bourbon caramel.

Simone is 2, and Not Today is her favorite twenty one pilots song. She will not be attending tonight’s concert, but if she did, she would sing her heart out.
