I had the chance to deliver a cake to Casa Mia for their 40th anniversary celebration this week, and while I was there, I spent some time talking with Ken about something every small business owner seems to know all too well… July.
It’s hot. People are on vacation. Kids are at camp. Everyone is staying in the air conditioning. For so many small businesses, it’s one of the toughest months of the year.
Sometimes it feels like you’re the only one going through it, so it was comforting to realize that so many other small business owners are facing the same challenges. We celebrate each other’s successes, but we also understand the slow seasons, the rising costs, and the pressure of keeping a business going.
I know a few people have mentioned our prices lately, and believe me, I don’t enjoy raising them. Every ingredient, utility bill, insurance payment, and supply costs more than they did a year ago. We work hard every single day to make sure the quality you receive is worth every penny.
This past March, this community reminded me why I love what I do. So many of you shared our posts, told your friends about us, and stopped in because you wanted to support a local business. It completely changed our spring, and I’ll never forget it.
So if you’ve been meaning to stop by, we’d love to see you. Our air conditioning is set to a cool 72° 😉, we’ve got fresh cupcakes waiting, and we’d love to help you escape the heat for a few minutes.
