Joseph Sullivan is a real estate developer, entrepreneur, and community-focused leader with deep roots in Springfield’s East Forest Park neighborhood. He attended Holy Cross School and later Cathedral High School (Pope Francis Preparatory School), where faith, family values, and community involvement helped shape his work ethic and lifelong commitment to service.
Joe and John Sullivan are longtime friends and business partners who grew up together in East Forest Park and have built hospitality and real estate ventures side by side through years of shared responsibility and trust. Though they share a last name, they are not related by blood. Their partnership is rooted in decades of friendship and a shared commitment to strengthening the communities that shaped them.
A proud U.S. Army Veteran with nearly ten years of service in the Massachusetts National Guard — The Nation's First, Joe served as a member of the Joint Military Command in Bosnia as part of Stabilization Force 10 (SFOR 10)—an experience that reinforced his values of discipline, teamwork, and mission-driven leadership.
Joe is the son of Jerry and Betty Sullivan and the brother of Diane Sullivan and GySgt Thomas J. Sullivan, a United States Marine, who was killed in the 2015 attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee. As Thomas’s brother, Joe and his family are proud members of a Gold Star family—an experience that has deeply influenced Joe’s leadership, community involvement, and ongoing commitment to supporting military families.
In honor of his brother’s sacrifice, Joe helped establish the GySgt Thomas J. Sullivan Memorial Fund, with proceeds benefiting Pope Francis Preparatory School in Springfield and supporting local Marines out of Westover Air Reserve Base.
Joe resides in Hampden, Massachusetts with his wife, Holly Sullivan, and their children, Connor, Chloe, and Callulah. Holly, soon to be attorney, is actively involved in nonprofit and community-based work focused on service, giving back, and supporting family-centered causes. Chloe was a standout lacrosse player at Minnechaug Regional High School and is entering the nursing program at Our Lady of the Elms College in January. Callulah currently attends Wilbraham Middle School and is involved in competitive cheerleading with North Star Athletics in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Connor is a licensed home improvement contractor who has recently begun building custom cabinetry, embracing the value of hands-on skilled trades.
