Merry Christmas
I have news to share with a heavy heart. I have made the decision to sell PinPoint. This is the toughest decision I’ve had made in my almost 30 years as a business owner.
This year has been the most challenging of my life. I spent most of the year coping with back injuries. Many weeks spent in bed unable to stand due to indescribable pain. After a couple of weeks in a wheelchair the decision was made to have surgery. Surgery improved the situation, but I haven’t been able to fully return to my routines.
While all of this was happening, we had an immediate family member also dealing with a major health crisis. My family has been through so much this year. When the time came to renew our lease, I couldn’t commit to five more years.
I made the decision to list the business for sale. My hope was to find a buyer that would continue as PinPoint. My business broker, Neal DePersia, has guided me through this emotional process with flawless advice. He has been a counselor and a friend. We have a deal to sell the business, but it will not continue as PinPoint.
The new owners will be Chef Tan Uckan and his wife Semra. . They operate two restaurants in the Raleigh area. They will be a great edition to downtown offering lunch and dinner.
I cannot express in words my appreciation for Chef Cameron Garvey and the crew that have carried the load. Thank you to all our crew, friends, farmers, and guests, that have passed through the doors in the last ten years. I have tried to speak to as many of you in person over the last few weeks. If I haven’t seen you, know that you have been on my mind.
Most importantly, I want everyone to know the rock that my family has been for me. It is humbling to rely on around the clock care from others. I never imagined we would have family dinners in bed, or watch our kids enjoy climbing on a wheelchair like a toy.
In the future we will continue to operate . We will see you again somewhere when the right opportunity presents itself.
Thank you for letting us be a part of your time spent around the table.
Our final dinner service will be New Year’s Eve.
