The Frozen Bear Amazing yogurt and delicious treats to cool off in the Wisconsin Dells

Frozen Bear closed for good on September 19th. The building is being demolished to make room for the new Elm Street entertainment plaza to open the summer of 2022. The business will not be relocating.

Once we are open, we welcome anyone who is 16 or older who would like to talk with us about working at The Frozen Bear this summer. Either call ahead at 608 253-0468, email us or stop by on the weekends. Jobs can begin in may and go thru Labor Day weekend.

Happy Spring (almost!) one and all. We are truly looking forward to getting out and reopening for the season!
For certain date will be Saturday, March 27th, however if the weather is favorable we hope to be open the weekend of March 20-21. Hope to see everyone later this month!

So,sorry! we had to close on Sunday afternoon, July 5 mid-day as our air conditioning system went down. Was over 80 degrees inside an hour after opening! Hoping for repairs today, but won't know until we identify the problem. Aiming to be open by 1PM July 6th pending the repairs.

Just a reminder about our schedule changes that began this past Monday, June 8th. Daily we will now open at 1PM, instead of 11AM. For now, we will be closing on Wednesdays. It is possible this schedule will change and we will let everyone know if and when any changes occur.

Nightly we will be open until at least 8PM. The closing hour might be extended pending any changes in our employment picture.

Returning soft serve flavors coming in the next few weeks will be Home Churn Vanilla, Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel, Kiwi Strawberry Italian Ice, and Raspberry.
For a short time, we will have Salty Jack, a great nutty, caramel flavor, and Traffic Cone Blues, a real surprising blueberry and chocolate combination, in our Ashby's ice cream case.

Work is progressing across the street from The Frozen Bear on the former Chalet building (also the former home of our Out of the Woods store for 17 years) In 2021 the entire building and the former Bavarian Village will be transformed into the greatly expanded home of Wizard Quest. The building was in bad need of repairs so it is kind of exciting to see this project take shape.
What about the "old" Wizard Quest on the 100 block? Next year it will be home to an expanded Ripley's Believe It or Not. And the current Ripley's building will eventually be home to another attraction.

Our opinion, for what it is worth..
We can't help but worry that there is a rush to wanting normalcy and not enough respect given to the virus. It did not go on vacation for the summer waiting to return at our (in)convenience. Strictly unscientific of course, we probably see under 5% of the public walking our streets wearing masks. We wear ours, not to protect ourselves but to offer some protection for our customers. I do not think wearing them should be mandatory right now, but we can not help but worry about the weeks and months ahead until there is a vaccine, therapeutic or some other cure. We are not in the "its a hoax" camp. Sorry.

Just your trip advisor here. With the reopening of Wilderness Resort on Thursday all but two of the major water park resorts will be open. Noah's Ark and Great Wolf Lodge will reopen a little later in June. Am sure the employment situation is a factor in these decisions. 90 degrees here today, so besides ice cream a little shout out to our neighbors seems in order today!

Hiring for everyone in the Dells area this year is by far the biggest challenge ever (and we have been in town since the 80s!) Since we reopened on May 22nd, only Linda and I have worked all the open hours. Because of the problem with embassies being closed overseas, we are seeing very, very few J1 program foreign students in the Dells area. As of now, we are not sure that will change soon.

Beginning June 8th, we will be opening our store at 1PM instead of 11AM. We will also be closing the store on Wednesdays until further notice.

Nightly closing times will vary thru August, but at the very least we will be open until 8PM nightly.

We have never had to reduce our hours during the busy summer season...and hope we don't have to do it ever again. We want to be at our best for our customers. We are listening to our bodies. thanks for understanding.

We are open everyone! A big thank you to everyone who has thanked us for that. We understand the sentiment here... everyone would like nothing better than retuning to pre-COVID days. Resolution...instead lets try to make our days ahead better than pre- COVID days!

Trying not to make any post too long. As our store size is small, we are going to eliminate our indoor seating area entirely for now. This will best allow us to maintain 6 ft. social distancing in the best manner. Our outdoor patio will continue to operate as tables are safely distanced already.
