From the day we opened our doors, Rootstock has always been dedicated to uplifting our community and championing local musicians. As we celebrate our 8th Anniversary, it feels especially meaningful to support a family that has been an integral part of our journey.

Many of you know our dear friend and resident musician, Rich Gunderlock, whose music has brought joy and warmth to our restaurant for years. Rich’s wife, Monica, is currently facing a challenging battle with aggressive breast cancer. As she undergoes chemotherapy and prepares for major surgery, we want to stand beside them during this difficult time.

Monica’s journey is a testament to resilience. Since moving to Cherokee County in 2016 and marrying Rich—beloved music teacher and mentor—she launched Strike A Pose Atlanta. From our local schools to Madison Square Garden, her photography business has blossomed. While juggling her thriving career and nurturing our community, life unexpectedly threw a curveball her way. Yet through this difficult fight, Monica has experienced an outpouring of love and support, reminding us of the incredible strength in community.

To support Monica and the Gunderlock family, we’re hosting a special fundraiser throughout September, culminating in Rich’s final performance on our stage on Sunday, September 28th. With your donation, you will receive one of the following bottles from our exclusive private selections of whiskey—a distinctive way to contribute to a family that means so much to us all:

$80 Contribution:** Choice of our latest private barrel from Shortbarrel, or our Bhakta,
$70 Contribution:** Choice of ASW Amburana or Heartwood
$60 Contribution:** LAWS
