Back in the mid-1980s, not long after the original opening of Ranchito, one of our regular coffee drinkers, Dan Cook, inspired what would become one of our most loved menu items.
Together, over morning coffee.. the idea for a hearty breakfast burrito was born—and before long, guests were asking for “Super Dan Burritos.” Over the years, it became what so many know today as the Smothered Dan.
For us, it’s more than a breakfast burrito. It’s a piece of Ranchito history, built on family, loyal customers, and a small-town community that’s supported us for generations.
To celebrate this recipe that has stood the test of time, we serve smothered dans all day every Tuesday! If you’ve never tried this Ranchito classic, now’s the perfect time. And if it’s already your favorite, come enjoy a little taste of our history.
