Come travel with me to Portugal 🇵🇹 and Spain 🇪🇸 with two of my favorite classic dishes full of history, comfort, and bold flavor Keya's Kitchen
Piri Piri Chicken has roots in Portuguese and African culinary history. The word piri piri refers to the small hot chile pepper that Portuguese explorers encountered in Africa after peppers from the Americas spread through global trade. Portuguese colonizers and traders, especially in places like Mozambique and Angola, helped shape the spicy sauce and cooking style that became known as piri piri. Over time, the dish became closely tied to Portuguese cuisine, especially grilled or roasted chicken marinated in a bold mix of chile, garlic, acid, oil, and spices. At Keya’s Kitchen, it comes out juicy and full of bold flavor, with smoky char, deep seasoning, and that fiery garlicky kick that lingers in the best way.
Spanish Tortilla, also called Tortilla Española or Tortilla de Patatas, is one of Spain’s most classic comfort dishes. It is made with eggs, potatoes, and onion, though some versions leave the onion out. It became popular because it was simple, filling, and made from humble ingredients that were easy to keep in the house. Over time it became a major part of Spanish home cooking and tapas culture, served warm, room temperature, or even cold. It may look simple, but in Spain it is one of those dishes people take seriously because texture, thickness, and doneness matter a lot. At Keya’s Kitchen, it’s tender, hearty, and full of soft layered potatoes, rich egg, and onion in every bite, with the kind of simple comforting flavor that never goes out of style.
Now on the menu at Keya’s Kitchen.
