Introduction of Hoi An Today - Trinh Diem Vy’s Blog

Welcome to my new blog. My name is Trịnh Diễm Vy, better known to my friends and customers as Ms Vy. Born and raised in Hoi An, I am a third-generation chef, restaurateur and businesswoman. I was blessed to have parents from both the North and South of Vietnam and have inherited a wealth of culinary knowledge from across our country. I have spent over 40 years of my life in kitchens–first that of my parents’ restaurant, and then those of my own.

During the worldwide Covid-19 Pandemic, I was approached by the local Peoples’ Committee to create a programm to reinvigorate the tourism industry in here. When I began to look at news about Hoi An, I was disappointed to find that there were no good and reliable source of information.

With my blog I hope to address this situation. I will post about the things which interest and concern me. It will be coming from my unique perspective. I’ll write about our rich cosmopolitan history, philosophy, and of course, above all, food!

I hope you will enjoy reading the forthcoming articles. I’d love to hear your feedback. There is some sharing from bottom of my heart in our special time of the year. Wishing you all the best for Christmas and Happy new year.

Here is a short video of our beautiful Vy's Market Restaurant, one of the most special venues in Hoi An. It resembles an actual local market where you can watch our skillful staff preparing freshly made dishes for you. 👏🏼😊

We have many different sections in here, e.g. banh mi stand, noodle station, seafood and different meet station, herb and sauces section, etc.
