Lemon Blueberry Cake — freeze dried blueberry cream cheese frosting, finished with a salted caramel drip. 🤍

That speckled frosting isn't food colouring, it's real freeze dried blueberries folded straight into the cream cheese, giving it that natural, slightly tart flavour and the prettiest blush-pink fleck.

Topped with fresh passionfruit, pomegranate, blushing bride proteas and lavender — because winter doesn't mean colour has to disappear.

Our Creamy Chocolate Date Tart — vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar free. Made entirely from whole, real ingredients with dates doing the heavy lifting on sweetness.

A dense, nutty chocolate base. A silky smooth chocolate filling that sets just firm enough to slice but melts the moment it hits your tongue.

Topped with dried blood orange, edible blooms and crushed nuts — because even the most wholesome things deserve to be beautiful. 🍊🌸

This is one of those cakes I only make on occasion, per request. Not because it's difficult — because it deserves to be made with intention, not mass produced.

This is our Salted Caramel Cheesecake — velvety smooth filling on a buttery biscuit base, draped in a slow-poured caramel that sets just enough to drip the way it should.

Two cakes leaving the kitchen today — and I have to say, I'm a little excited to eat my own baking for once. 😄🤍
The Pecan Pie 🥧
Buttery, caramelly, deeply roasted pecans in every bite. The kind of thing that makes a room go quiet when you cut into it. Rich without being heavy, sweet without being cloying — just a proper, honest pecan pie done the way it should be.

The Hummingbird Cake 🍌🍍
Spiced banana and pineapple cake — warm, fragrant, and just a little bit tropical. I switched it up today with macadamia nuts for some extra crunch and nuttiness, finished with a generous cream cheese frosting. It's the kind of cake that feels like sunshine even in the middle of Cape Town winter.

Mid-June. Peak winter in Cape Town. ❄️

Running this bakery for 5+ years gives you a strange kind of window into people's lives — through their orders.

In summer, I see double and triple cake orders rolling in. Big parties, 20+ people, celebrations stacking up one after another.

In winter? Smaller cakes. Quieter weeks. Less "let's throw a massive party" energy and more "let's just enjoy the season slowly."

Honestly, it's a reflection of where I am too. 🤍
This past week was actually one of my slowest in years.

Instead of spiralling about it, I just sat with it. This is the season. This is where the business is right now. And that's okay.

Most people think running a bakery means baking every single day. 🎂
It doesn't.
My "weekend" is Tuesday. 😄

Thursday and Friday are my world — flour everywhere, ovens running, cakes coming to life one layer at a time. Saturday morning the last collection leaves the door and something in me just... exhales. 😮‍💨

That feeling never gets old.

Then Monday and Tuesday arrive and that's my time. My recovery. My real Sunday. Especially on a grey, cold Cape Town winter morning like today — coffee in hand, slow start, no alarms. ☕🌧️

One thing nobody tells you about baking — you simply cannot rush a cake. ⏳
You finish the bake. Then you wait. The cooling. The filling setting. The layers resting. A great cake has its own timeline and the moment I stopped fighting that and trusted the process — everything changed.

Kind of like life really. 🤍

Next week my mom flies in from Zurich. Haven't seen her in 14 months. She's bringing family from the Northern Cape too and honestly I'm just really looking forward to it. 🥹✈️
