Look at the stitches coming together 🧶

Remember that you can still stop by our coffee shop to take part in our Knit One Sip one community initiative.

If you would like to knit or crochet at home and drop off off the finished product, you are welcome to do so. The blankets will be delivered to the needy, elderly folk at the old age home in Kuils River, as close to 18 Jul 2026 as possible.

Whatever size the finished blanket ends up as - it will be used. The elderly folk will use the blankets as knee blankets or shawls if too small for their beds.

The beds are narrow and many have side rails.

🧶☕ It’s that time of year again! Join us in making a difference with our Knit One, Sip One community initiative.

In the lead-up to Mandela Day, visit our coffee shop in Claremont, order your favourite hot drink, and pick up a pair of knitting needles. Help us knit colourful squares or strips that will be stitched together into warm blankets for those in need.

Already have your own needles and wool? Bring them along! Settle in with a great cup of coffee, enjoy the company, and knit for as long as you’d like.

Every stitch helps keep someone warm this winter. ❤️

Join June for a FREE Introductory Talk on Saturday, 25 July, from 10:00–12:00 at I Love Coffee Deli, Claremont.

Whether you’re interested in communicating with Deaf friends, family, colleagues, or simply want to learn a new skill, this session is the perfect place to start.

June will introduce you to SASL, explain what the classes involve, and answer any questions you may have.

Ten years ago, we opened our doors with a simple belief mthat great coffee could create meaningful opportunities for Deaf and hard of hearing youth.

What started as one café has grown into a community spanning fourteen cafés across Cape Town, Johannesburg and London. Today, 70% of our team is Deaf or hard of hearing, and every cup served carries the purpose we began with all those years ago.

We’ve never been here just to make coffee. We’ve always been here to create opportunity, champion inclusion, and prove what’s possible when people are given the chance to thrive.

To everyone who has visited, shared our story, ordered a coffee, or supported us along the way ; thank you. You are part of this journey too.

Your June winter survival guide is here, and it starts with us.

Pop in on Monday for a cappuccino and pasteis for R50.
Wednesday is peri-peri chicken livers on sourdough with mint yoghurt and pomegranate for R75 and Friday it’s some chicken with chips or salad for R95.

It’s a small menu, but it carries the week. Come through when you need something warm.
