SHORT HISTORY ABOUT THE BREED

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a dog breed developed in Southern Africa where it was used (among other things) to hunt Lions. Its European fore bearers can be traced to the early Pioneers of the Cape Colony of Southern Africa, who cross bread their dogs with the semi domesticated ridge hunting dogs of the Khoikhoi.
