Ubuntu Ground Cafe Established as a social enterprise by the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust

All proceeds from Ubuntu Ground Cafe go directly towards the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust's 24-bed Respite Unit which provides free medical care and treatment to children and adults suffering from advanced stages of AIDS or cancer.

Sewing Skills, Shared Futures

Our Gogo Sewing Groups show what empowerment really looks like.

Through these groups, grandmothers are earning an income while using their sewing skills to support their own communities. From school uniforms to church attire, their work meets real needs and restores dignity, confidence and financial independence.

As part of HACTโ€™s empowerment programmes, the impact goes even further. Many groups have started mini sewing schools, teaching other women in their communities how to sew. Skills are shared, confidence is built, and opportunities multiply. This is skills transfer in action.

One of the highlights this month was the year-end celebration of the Siyahlanganisa Sewing Group from Emlambo KwaNyuswa. They celebrated in style, wearing beautiful dresses they had sewn themselves. A moment filled with pride, laughter and proof of what is possible when women are supported to grow and lead.

Because empowerment is not only about income.
It is about purpose, belonging, and women lifting one another up.
