Gaaitjie Restaurant,is housed in an old fisherman's cottage built in 1860, on the Voorsrandt Beach Paternoster, South Africa.The name (meaning small hole) is a local term of endearment for this cottage named after the small cave behind the house. From the building's very location we have drawn inspiration to keep the food and beverge served, ingredients used and service as local and * "lekka" as

possible. Sustainability of ingerdients and heritage cuisine are our driving factors when it comes to the menu. Menus changes seasonally. Dietary restrictions are best discussed with the chef. Children are most welcome, so are dogs (they may not enter the building however says the health department)- when making a reservation, request the entrance stoep for better kid's access to the beach and happy doggies. Seating is limited to 50 pax. Keeping the original charm of the old house limits our outside seating (so does the wind, rain and proximity to the Atlantic). We will always endeavor to get you the best seat when making a reservation, we can promise nothing as life on the beach is never a sure thing! Our pace is "not so fast" for the preparation of fresh food, and giving you time to savor the elements of our home

🌊💔The storm and relentless winds caused severe damage to our beach area, beautiful newly designed by , and sadly we lost our beloved big tent — a space where so many special memories were made with our guests.
In difficult moments, we are reminded of the incredible people around us. A huge thank you to Dimensions Tents and Structures for their quick response and efficiency in helping us restore our welcoming seaside space.

Soon, our outdoor area will once again be sheltered, warm and ready to welcome you back to enjoy the beauty of May by the ocean with us. 🌾✨
