Our next wine tasting event will be held next Friday, 26 June 2026, when we’ll be tasting the fabulous wines from Vrede en Lust of Simondium, Western Cape. Vrede en Lust was founded in 1688 by a Flemish Merchant called Jacques de Savoye who was allocated this land by the Governor of the Cape and like most farms from this era it was originally a mixed farming enterprise with wheat and barley production along with cattle and the famous vines. The Estate has changed hands a number of times and in 1996 the Buys family became the 17th owners of this now family owned and managed business and embarked on a program of renewal to fully realise the exceptional wine making potential of this Estate and it is a tribute to its noble roots which continues to build on over 335 years of history, heritage and exceptional wine making skills.
