For 3 years I have marveled at the "cute" church with it's distinctive blue dome and this year I decided to attempt a little sketch.

"Blue dome churches in Greece, primarily iconic to islands like Santorini, are deeply rooted in Greek Orthodox Christianity. The blue color symbolizes the sky and the sea, while also representing the Virgin Mary and the heavens. Together with whitewashed walls, they stand as iconic emblems of Greek heritage, faith, and the connection between earth and the divine."

Hierdie video is vandag 10 jaar gelede geneem op Pa se 78ste verjaarsdag. O man, how much joy!! Daai trifle koek met jelly babies bo-op (al Pa se favourites) is so kleurvol soos hierdie memory - and it lives on in our hearts.

Pa is more al 4 jaar nie hier nie. Ons mis so baie dinge van en saam met Pa. But we are doing well. Ek d**k Pa sou so chuffed wees met hoe fabulous Ma aangaan, hoe lekker sy travel en haar lewe vol maak ten spyte van die daaglikse gemis. Ek d**k ons almal, op ons eie manier, celebrate Pa se menswees deur juis voluit te LEWE. What a gift.

Ek gaan virseker vandag spesiaal klein vissies bestel saam met 'n lang G&T en 'n dankbare cheers op Pa drink.

First few days of rest

Days filled with swimming, rock tossing, eating, shopping local treats, beach walks, celebrating our 25th anniversary, home cooking, daily art time, sunsets, activation of holiday hair and my yellow toenails! (This nail colour has been baptised by Ben-Daniël as "knock-off burger cheese" 😉🤪) Yellow though seems like an apt colour to discribe the sunny happiness of these first few days. 💛

Travel & arrival in Melinta, Lesvos
22 hours, 3 flighs and a bit of driving

To travel is an incredible privilege and the excitement of returning to a place is an extra bonus. The familiarity, the joy, the rest. Our journey was long, but the arrival sweet and we immediatly fell into the blue waters and enjoyed an early dinner at our neighbour Maria taverna before settling in and catching up on some sleep - to the sound of waves and dreams of a wonderful holiday ahead.

On a rainy day in February we were witness to a true love story. Two remarkable people and their families, finding joy in spite of changing weather, plans and even picture perfect dreams!

The jersey tartare bar must be one of our favourite executions of this season - with meat sourced specially from the clients farm. Our passion remains to always find a way to tell a personal story with our food offering at a function. We believe this plays a huge part in making the celebration and enjoyment meaningful, personal and memorable.
