It never ceases to amaze me how these boys unload boat after boat across our Rockliff Seafoods wharf!

While our crew handle the 5kg frozen boxes on the wharf, it’s the boat crew and skipper who are on the boat, throwing hundreds of boxes from the depths of their freezer up to their crew mate on the deck, and then up the conveyor!

It’s a common scene along all the wharves in Mooloolaba, but one you never get tired of! πŸ™Œ

These guys are just made tough! πŸ‘Š

Thanks boys (and girls) for doing what you do, spending weeks at sea and then unloading here at Mooloolaba, with arguably the best-quality wild-caught prawns in the world! 🦐🌊β™₯️

You rock! 🀘

The excitement is building for Easter with the crew at Rockliff unloading gorgeous fresh Mooloolaba Eastern King Prawns off the Sadie Reeves this morning!

The sun was out and the prawns were next-level, so our factory manager Richian whipped out her phone and started recording!! 🀩

These are the guys you’re supporting when you buy your seafood local! All along Mooloolaba Spit, we’ve worked hard together to keep the prices stable, so they can stay affordable for the community this Easter! β™₯️

We can’t wait to see you here! β™₯οΈπŸ¦€πŸ¦πŸ¦žπŸ™πŸ¦‘ Lots of love from the Rockliffs! β™₯️

It’s more important than ever to support your local seafood businesses!

You guys, our local community, are the ones that saved us during Covid.

Eerily, we’re seeing a similar, yet unprecedented, situation again.

The fact that a war in the Middle East can affect our food supply chain so drastically and quickly is scary.

But we can make a difference by supporting our local businesses and keeping them alive!

The Mooloolaba fishing boats are out at sea, and there will be plenty of seafood for Easter!

So let’s step up and support our own local fishermen and farmers, so we can ensure our own food security for the future.

Whether it be our famous Mooloolaba Ocean King Prawns, wild-caught tuna, or our local spanner crab, come and visit the team and enjoy our seafood this Easter!

Lots of love from the Rockliff family and all our local fishing families β™₯️🦐

You may have noticed we've been a little quiet on the Rockliff Seafoods social pages lately, but for a very special reason. β™₯️

I swapped the wharves of Mooloolaba with the shores of East Devonport in Tassie, to spend some time with my 94yo grandfather, Peter Rockliff, as we started collating the family's history. 😍

As many of you know, the Rockliff Seafoods family (Neville and Helen Rockliff and four children) originally hailed from Tassie where our grandparents Peter and Una Rockliff (Neville's parents) founded Petuna, nearly 80 years ago!

What started as couta and flathead fishing for Peter, and Una selling the catch from the back deck, Petuna eventually grew and expanded into a world-renowned and diverse seafood legacy.

Looking through the history of our grandparents’ rise and growth in the Tasmanian and Australian seafood industries, (culminating in an OAM each, for services to the Tasmanian Fishing Industry, and being inducted into National Seafood Industry Hall of Fame in 2017) has been inspiring, to say the least. πŸ’–

It's been an absolutely mesmerising experience, not only diving into the archives and retracing the steps with my daughter and my Pop, of those who came before us, but to also see how the larger family continues to evolve with the retained retail operation, Peter and Una Seafoods, still in East Devonport.

With many family members still heavily involved in this business, and the heartbreaking loss of our Nan in September, Pop is still active in the business every day and has just recently completed construction on a new processing facility for Peter and Una Seafoods!

And anyone who knows my Pop, will know his plans don't stop there! πŸ˜‚ We had the most amazing and special experience, and I left with a new-found awe of the man I'm so proud to call our Pop! πŸ’–

So as we journeyed home to Mooloolaba, this chance to reflect on our family's past has filled us with pride, inspiration and excitement for the future! πŸ€—πŸ’–

And here's a fun fact for you: We believe Pop still holds the Tasmanian record for the most flathead caught single-handedly, with only two handlines, in one day! Three-quarters of a tonne he reeled in by himself that day! What a catch! 🀩

Pictured (from left): Vanessa Rockliff (me), Peter Rockliff, and two of his great granddaughters Mary and Lucy. And I couldn't resist a pic with my cheeky nephew George Rockliff, who also works at Peter and Una Seafoods! πŸ˜‚
