๐๏ธโโ๏ธ Course Update โ May 2026
๐ค๏ธ Weather & Rainfall
May certainly delivered challenging conditions, with 15 days out of 31 classified as moist and significant rainfall impacting course operations throughout the month.
We recorded 299.5 mm of rainfall for May, creating ongoing challenges with presentation, mowing schedules, and general course maintenance. Despite the wet conditions, staff have continued working hard to maintain course playability and presentation wherever possible.
๐ฑ Greens & Aprons
Greens and couch aprons have been difficult to access at times this month due to the wet conditions.
Raising the height of cut last month has resulted in excellent turf coverage and overall plant health heading into winter.
The excessive rainfall has resulted in some nutrient leaching through the soil profile, with corrective applications planned as conditions improve.
Ongoing monitoring and applications will continue as conditions allow.
๐ฑ Tees
Weekly divot repairs and sand bin top-ups are ongoing to maintain presentation and playability.
Tees continue to present well, with regular foliar applications helping maintain colour and turf health despite the wet conditions.
๐ฟ Fairways
Fairways continue to present well, with regular foliar applications and growth regulators maintaining colour and playability.
Topdressing of low-lying areas is ongoing to improve surface levels and assist with drainage.
๐๏ธ Bunkers
Bunkers have been maintained through regular edging, cleaning, and w**d control where conditions have allowed.
A reminder to all players to rake bunkers after use and return rakes to the centre to ensure consistent conditions for everyone.
๐ง Irrigation & Infrastructure
Irrigation systems have seen minimal use this month due to the ongoing rainfall.
This has provided the team with an opportunity to carry out repairs and raise irrigation components that have deteriorated over time.
๐ A Big Thank You
A big thank you to our staff and volunteers for their continued hard work throughout the challenging conditions. From pushing up bunker faces and pumping water from bunkers to keeping up with mowing and clearing debris, the effort from the entire team has been outstanding.
A special thank you to our sponsors for their ongoing support of the PGA events and other club events at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club.
