Cochrane & Area Humane Society Meet your new best friend at the Cochrane & Area Humane Society! Dogs receive training and behaviour assistance to make them good canine citizens.

The Cochrane & Area Humane Society provides food, shelter, medical care and the opportunity for adoption for unwanted, surrendered, lost and unclaimed animals, while promoting responsible pet ownership through educational programs, rural spay/neuter programs and public fundraising events. ry, permanent identification and the chance for adoption into a new home. Lost pets are reunited with their guardians and the Society creates humane education programs to promote responsible pet guardianship. Children participate in Day Camps and victims of domestic violence are helped through the Pet Safe Program. Each year thousands of people call or come through our doors to surrender, adopt, claim lost pets, volunteer, seek advice, training or assistance, utilize our resource centre, attend humane education programs or make donations. We take in approximately 1,100 animals every year and are happy that we are able to successfully place or return home over 90% of them.

Meet Monkey… 🐾

He’s the kind of cat who doesn’t rush introductions.

At first, he’ll watch you from a safe spot… usually a window.

Birds outside. People inside. He’s quietly taking it all in.

Give him a little time though… and everything changes.

Slow blinks turn into head nudges.
Distance turns into “please don’t stop petting me.”

And suddenly, he’s your shadow. 💛

Monkey would love a home with another calm feline friend to hang out with.
Dogs? He might be open to it.
Kids 5+? Possibly a great match.

So here’s the real question…

Happy Tail Update: Oliver aka Odin 🐾

“Odin has become the best thing I could ever hope for, the missing piece to our family.”

From separation anxiety progress, to dog park adventures, to cuddling up with his kitty siblings, Odin is absolutely thriving in his new home.

His adopter says he now naps peacefully while relaxing music plays, walks beautifully on leash, and has been gaining confidence with other dogs every day. And after a slow introduction period, Odin and the cats are now officially best friends, complete with snuggles, kisses, and family sleep piles

Lily (Aka Princess Lily) is a sweet, gentle lady who just needs a little time to shine.

Once she gets to know you, she adores her people and happily accepts all the love (and snacks!) you have to offer. Treats are definitely the way to her heart.

Lily would do best in a home with another confident dog to help her continue building her confidence. She’s looking for a calmer household with kids 15 and up, as younger children can be a bit overwhelming for her.
