Happy Friday,

So, good news/bad news time:

Our neighbourhood is open however, with power issues overnight we had to convince the folks on site to let us in the building to reset our fridge. Good news, I purchased thermostats that alarm my phone when our temperature gets too high.

We were able to get onsite at 1am and reset our breaker and did not lose any product.

However, we got here at 8:30 this morning and there was a gas leak from our propane tanks.

Thankfully, we have a technician on site doing the repair this morning but we do not know when we will be ready to roll for the day.

Stay tuned, we are hoping to open this afternoon but time is TBD.

I gave an interview last week to Erin MacInnis with CBC Radio about the impacts the construction is having on local business.

For those in government at any level I have some ideas for solutions and would welcome a follow up conversation.

Since I’m home with no restaurant to run again this evening thought it might make a good time to share.

Well this is the week that keeps on giving.

There is a crane issue across the street and the police and fire crews on scene are shutting down Dutch village from our corner to Joseph Howe Drive.

We have been ordered to evacuate.
Please avoid the area if you can.

I will keep you all posted on when we will be open again (praying it is soon, losing 2 days this week is already a nightmare).

Our next Paint night with is only 1 week away on June 11 from 6-8pm.

As of today, we have 9 seats remaining for this month’s theme “Magnolias”.

🎨 The workshop is beginner friendly and casual.
🍔 Your entry also comes with a value priced menu on some of our most popular items.
☕️ Tea and coffee are included (we have decaf for both so the jitters won’t mess with your brush strokes).

Unfortunately the diner is closed for the day.

So sorry to all the great Wednesday guests who had plans to visit us or grab some take out today.

We have a few cases of the dreaded spring cold/flu. Therefore, we are too few in numbers to have regular services today for lunch and dinner time.

We should be back to fighting shape for tomorrow.

Our recurring art installation is back in front of the diner for an exhibition of unknown duration.

Fear not, we are still open regular hours with passable sidewalks (for now).

There was some debate this morning about the trees that are set to be planted and a possible misalignment of the new sidewalk placement (in relation to the structures underneath that will support the trees).

While overhearing the heated debate between the construction staff and the potential impact(s) to our operation was distressing, thankfully, no one thought to consult the local business affected. So, a full scale anxiety attack was able to spiral into what my Fitbit deemed “zone minutes” because of my elevated heart rate while doing no physical activity at all. So exercise bonus activated I guess. Life hack?

In the meantime, we can all admire the artists work which is currently untitled.

My suggested titles to the artist’s work are as follows:

“More mistakes leading to more waste”
“Wasted money, time, and labour”
“If my business ran this way, we would be out of business”
“Project Mismanagement”
“Communication breakdowns lead to morning meltdowns”
“Defeated and broken but trying to rebuild (yet again)”

Feel free to leave your own art title suggestions in the comments if you are also trying to be clever and find humor in a stressful situation.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all of the Mother Figures out there in all your wonderful and diverse roles you play in your family.

A few items to note for Sunday:

❤️We are open regular hours 10am - 4pm

❤️We will not be able to offer delivery for Sunday only.

❤️Wait times for take out and seating may be longer than usual.

❤️We are walk in only (no reservations).

❤️We will do our best, however, we may not be able to accommodate larger parties and combining multiple tables.

Thanks so much for understanding. We are excited to welcome you all in this weekend.

Tomorrow is also Chef Lalanya’s birthday and we have three moms on staff who want to bring you an enjoyable brunch.

All we ask in return is that you let us know how we can make your experience a wonderful one. We welcome feedback and want you to be full and happy when you leave.

I would consider it a personal gift to avoid negative online reviews where we have no chance to make it right for you after the fact.
