One of us is bringing the good vibes, the other is bringing the culinary delights with a side of darkness. Both agree that Halloween is better with burgers, b**rs and a little mischief.

Team Development Day • once a year we close down The Barley Merchant on a Monday and spend a day investing in our team to enhance education, understanding, respect and culture.

Our “Mock Service” is always a huge hit as it gives our team an opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of people who work in other areas of the restaurant.

We ❤️ our TBM Team!

T E A M D A Y • The Barley Merchant will be closed for the entire day today, Monday October 26th.

Once a year we spend an entire day with our team for some eduction, team building, cross training and it’s all followed by a celebration of all the amazing work that they do to create the experience our guests know and love.

It’s an important part of our TBM team culture! If you know of anyone that was planning to visit us today please pass along that we won’t be open!

We’ll be back in action Tuesday Oct 27th at 11:30am.

D O N U T L O V E • Who doesn’t love a random of act of kindness?!

Especially when that act involves fresh, delicious donuts! 🍩 🔥

Out of the blue the other day we received a box of donuts from The Hive Donut Hut in Aldergrove as one of the owners joined us for dinner with friends.

The team lit up with excitement and everyone on shift enjoyed an unexpected sweet and flavourful treat that made their day!

Thank you The Hive Donut Hut for your thoughtful gift! You folks are amazing!

sweet lemon curd with creamy whipped brie topped with bright pomegranate seeds and micro greens, served with grilled french bread.

It’s rich, slightly sweet and bursting with tart notes from pomegranate popping on your palate!

Calling all hop heads! The harvest of our favourite lupulin filled flowery cones of deliciousness is in full swing and we’ve got a bunch of one off, dank, piney, resinous, citrusy examples of why fresh hop season is truly a special time of year!

We’ve got 11 bangers making a splash on our tap list right now!

Tap 1 - Small Gods Brewing What the Land Gives Fresh Hop IPA brewed I collaboration with Whistle Buoy Brewing with hops from Maplebayhops

Tap 2 - Hoyne Brewing Co. Wolf Vive Fresh Hop Pale Ale also with hops from Duncan’s Maple Bay

Tap 4 - Tinhouse Brewing Co. Slumach’s Gold Fresh Hop West Coast IPA made with local cascade and Mt. Hops.

Tap 5 - Camp B**r Co. Wet Coast ‘26 is a Fresh Hop IPA brewed with Strata, Chinook, Vista and Cryo fresh hops.

Tap 6 - Barnside Brewing Co. Farm Fresh Hop IPA brewed with first year Vista hops giving it big stonefruit and citrus tea

Tap 7 - BACKCOUNTRY BREWING Maple Bay Fresh Hop IPA with cascade and centennial hops right from the farm.

Tap 8 - Yellow Dog Brewing Co. Alpha Dog Fresh Hop Pale Ale comes at you with grapefruit, melon and lime!

Tap 9 - Fuggles B**r Co. Fresh Destiny Fresh Hop West Coast IPA with fresh centennial and simcoe then dry-hopped with Simcoe cryo!

Tap 10 - Container Brewing Fresh Coast with a punchy, resinous mouthfeel!

Tap 22 - Curious Creatures B**r Corp. Yamakami Fresh Hop Japanese Rice L***r Brewed inCollaboration with Flora Fermentation from Shiga, Japan using Fresh Cashmere hops from Abbotsford’s Topp's Hops

Tap 41 - Dageraad Brewing Wet Hop Blonde, their famous Belgian strong golden ale brewed with fresh hops!

These are all super limited, one off b**rs that won’t last long so come get your fill!

S P E C I A L H O U R S • Today, Wednesday October 14th we are hosting an event inside our main dining for The BC Craft Brewing Community as brewers and brewery owners descend on the Lower Mainland for the annual BC Craft Brewers Conference.

We will be closed briefly today from 3:30pm - 5:30pm at which time we will reopen our indoor patio space for this evenings dinner service.

So we’re open tonight, after 5:30pm, just with limited seating.
