The darkest coffee on the menu isn’t necessarily the strongest.

Here’s what most people get backwards: dark roast doesn’t mean more caffeine. Roasting doesn’t add caffeine, and the difference between light and dark roast is much smaller than most people assume.

What actually affects your caffeine intake?

How much coffee you use.
How fine you grind it.
How you brew it.
And how long it extracts.

Roast level is only one piece of the picture.

So what does roast level change?
Flavour.

Light roasts spend less time in the heat, preserving more of the bean’s natural character - brighter acidity, sweetness, fruit and floral notes. Dark roasts go further, developing deeper, smokier and more bitter flavors.

That bold, intense taste?

That’s roast. Not caffeine!

Two completely different things can both be called “strong.”

At Hailed, we use a medium roast - bright and naturally sweet, with subtle caramel notes and a smooth cocoa finish that lingers.

Because coffee can be bold without being dark.

Honestly? This is the thing people talk to us about the most.

It’s become the most popular on our website - and once someone starts, they don’t stop!

We’re talking about our coffee subscription! There’s something about knowing a box is showing up, already picked out, already incredible, and that just makes the month easier.
