We went for a little bimble out today to Stoke Bruerne, Northamptonshire to see a fellow boat cafe…with a difference. Daisy's Bakin Butty The Floating Cafe is a roaming cafe that is a butty boat (no engine) and towed along the canal network by their own boat. Daisy & Lloyd are a fabulous and very funny couple. We wanted to stop by for a chat, a drink and a bite to eat as we have followed them on facebook for a while…ended up staying two and a half hours!

Great independent business run by great people. Go show them some love, or even better go for a drive out and visit (just check where they are moored first).

Due to pre booked holiday and sickness I’m afraid we won’t be able to open tomorrow (Wednesday), but back on Thursday 🙌🏻...

Thank you everyone for all your support. I’d like to make it clear that the vast majority of people within the Marina community are wonderful and part of the reason we love Diglis. Just a couple of bad apples amongst the dozens of kind, friendly and supportive people.

We hope to see lots of you during the day as we are open as usual and for the event that starts at 4pm.

Bit of a long and sad one…

So, you may be aware of the rumours of sabotage we have faced since buying Cafe Afloat. Sadly, it is true. 😞😞

We had purchased the business from a much loved personality who decided to relocate overseas. We knew Dave (previous owner) for many years before purchasing and our children worked for him. The cafe boat has been in Diglis for at least 14 years. We thought we were buying a business much loved and appreciated in the marina. We knew many of the moorers pre purchase and love the marina immensely. We are even considering a live aboard there! However, we have suffered a very petty and subjected stream of sabotage from one particular group 😞 mostly in our electrical supply but other things too. We have had our electric turned off multiple times destroying thousands of pounds worth of stock, our van locks stuffed with matchsticks and even our electric supply cables ripped out and tossed into the water.
We know who is responsible and we have the police involved but THIS is the reason our events have been delayed and disrupted as they usually do it the night before. It’s soul destroying. We are a small independent business trying to feed our children, pay our bills and those of our 7 employees. We are on high alert for the Texan BBQ and preparing for dealing with the petty but hugely damaging nonsense these moorers are doing.

We know who you are. We have you all on camera. It’s with the police as we are upstanding people doing it the right way.

Why are people so vile?

Please support your local independent businesses…doesn’t have to be us, just any of them. Business is tough, I work 12 hour days 7 days a week, why go out of your way to make it harder? Be kind 💔💔💔

We’ve closed for the day due to the excessive heat. Team are holding up well but I have to look after them, so expect early closure again tomorrow but hopeful we will be open all day Friday.

For those waiting on today’s number of refused customers it was 3 😣 that’s 3 more than it should have been, fingers crossed tomorrow it’s 0!

We are taking a stance! 💪🏻
We had dogs coming with their owners today and the teams hearts were breaking seeing them in distress.

So, from Tuesday until Thursday we are going to refuse to serve you if you bring a dog out to us. We may lose a few customers due to this team decision but we will survive…those dogs might not.

The dog water bowls will still be put out to help those poor pups that are being subjected to potential heat stroke.

On a side note, the kitchen will stop hot food at 11/11:30 till Thursday to try and keep our steel tube a bit cooler. Still serving jackets, toasties and sandwiches and of course all beverages.

For weeks we’ve been perfecting our smoking techniques to bring you an authentic taste of Texas right here on the quayside.

Alongside the classic American favourites of burgers and hot dogs, the real stars of the show will be our smoked meat trays, packed with tender beef brisket, smoky chilli & cheese sausages, and slow-cooked pulled pork, all served with a selection of classic American sides.

Soak up the atmosphere by the water as we play iconic American music through the decades, from country classics to rock anthems, while serving up ice-cold beer, delicious cocktails, and plenty of BBQ goodness.
