National Post & Telecommunication Workers Union NPTWU was founded in 1973, in Colombo by the initiative of Brother Ariyadasa with 13 members. Gamini Hettiarachchi as the current president.

National Post and Telecommunication Workers Union (NPTWU) is a national level Trade Union in Sri Lanka representing and safeguarding the rights and interests of Postal and Telecommunication sectors of the working population of Sri Lanka. NPTWU having understood realized and formulated the concept of catering to envisaged and outstanding needs for building and strengthening solidarity among the man

agement and workers. Today NPTWU represents more than 6000 members from Postal & Telecommunication Sector, with the leadership of Bro. NPTWU serves as an affiliate to the UNI Sri Lanka Affiliate Council (UNI SLAC), which bridge the Postal & Telecommunication workers to the International Unionism affiliating with UNI GLOBAL UNION, UNI ACIA –Pacific (UNI APRO).
